Shelter Update
The
efforts in building the Cherokee County Emergency Shelter for Children
continues to make progress. The land was donated by Universal Alloy in
Canton, and the Shelter recently received the approval of the Community
Block Grant in the amount of $500,000. This is in addition to the various
contributions of local churches, businesses and civic organizations. Members
of the Cherokee Child Advocacy Board are working with architects to design
the 16-bed facility.
