I admit it -- I'm spoiled.
I have a pretty sweet job and an even sweeter commute -- 10 minutes -- if I stop at Starbucks!
I rarely have to leave Towne Lake. And, because I can get most of what I need right
here in Towne Lake, I just convince myself that if I can't get it here, I must not need it.
But, those who have seen me out and about can attest to the fact that I do actually need to
venture out for a new wardrobe. My jeans and oxfords have grown nearly threadbare as I wait
for Towne Lake to get a place where I can buy clothes.
Well, that's not going to happen
anytime soon, but, the next best thing is… just one exit down at Highway 92 just west of I-575 a
new retail center, Woodstock Square, will be celebrating its Grand Opening early next month.
If you haven't already noticed the huge development, you must get out even less often than I do,
because the Super Target sign has been up for nearly a year.
In addition to the
Super Target, the center will also be home to a Kohls Department |

Store, PetsMart, Office Max,
Lane Bryant, The Bath and Body Works, Old Navy, Ulta 3, Mattress Buys, Athlete's Foot and Famous
Footware -- most of which will begin opening early next month.
And for those who
might venture out just a little further, Cherokee County will soon have it's own Arts Center --
complete with a gallery, classrooms and a 300-seat theatre. The plan for the center isn't
anything new -- it's been in the works for years. What is new, is the $1 million anonymous
grant the Arts Council received to begin the renovations. See page 10 for a full story.
The TowneLaker magazine needs help! We need your input to help choose our TowneLaker magazine
Teacher of the Year (see page 54 for details). It's also time to complete the TowneLaker
Readers' Choice Awards ballots -- you still have time to help choose Towne Lake's best of the best!
Deadline for the Reader's Choice is Monday, February 12 at 5 p.m.
