JSL PENNY HARVEST A SUCCESS

The Junior Service League wishes to thank Towne Lake residents and business sponsors for their support.

The League recently wrapped up the year by participating in the March of Dimes Walk America 2000. They were able to donate $2,700 to this worthy cause and also participated in a shoe drive that served area schools Oak Grove Elementary, Carmel Elementary, Chapman Elementary, and Boston Elementary. The League along with Payless Shoe Source provided 80 children in need with new socks and shoes. The last function of the year was to volunteer during the Special Olympics.

During the summer, the League plans to team up with MUST Ministries for the "Summer Lunch Program." This program feeds over 500 children during the summer that normally receive their lunches from the school lunch program. During the summer break, these children would not otherwise be fed. The League annually provides donations to cover the cost of food for one week, as well as manpower to make and distribute the lunches to area mobile home parks.

If you would like to become a part of the Junior Service League of Woodstock or would like more information on how to become involved in any of these service projects, please call the League's information line at (770) 592-3535.
