Pet Adoptions
The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open
for adoptions Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Off-site
pet adoptions are also held on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays at Hwy
92 PetsMart, 1st Saturday at the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake (Dr. Weaver),
3rd Saturday at Haynes Pet Center in Towne Lake, every Sunday at Hwy 92
PetsMart and the 2nd and 4th Sundays at Barrett Pkwy PetsMart. All adoptions

Special Olympics Meeting
The Cherokee County Special Olympics Committee
is looking for dependable, dedicated and loving people to volunteer, coach,

Yard Sale
The Etowah High School Marching Band is
hosting a Yard Sale on Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the
parking lot of The Shops at Eagle Point. Band families are busy collecting
items for sale, so expect to find great values on furniture, toys, clothing,
etc. All proceeds will be used towards the purchase of new band uniforms.
The EHS Band has been invited to march in the Lord Mayor of Westminister's
New Year's Day Parade in London, England on January 1, 2002. For additional

Back 2 School
Readiness Program
Children's Restoration Network (CRN), is
a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless children and mothers.
Currently, CRN works with 70 shelters covering 14 counties in the metro-Atlanta
area. Volunteers are currently needed to staff a collection/information
booth at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw. CRN will be collecting new school
supplies for homeless children beginning July 12, and the campaign will

Baseball Clinics
at Hobgood Park
The City Baseball School is working with
the Hobgood Youth Baseball Association to provide clinics and raise funds
for Hobgood Youth Baseball. On July 13, 14 and July 28 there will be clinics

Benefit Bike Tour
The Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society will be hosting the MS 150 Bike Tour on September 22
and 23. This is a bike tour for all cyclists. The challenge is two days
of cycling 150 kilometers. Have fun and raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis

Benefit Concert
Cherokee Recreation and Parks Authority,
in conjunction with Cherokee County Schools, will be sponsoring Save the
Music for Cherokee County Benefit Concert on August 5. The concert will
be held at the Hobgood Amphitheater in Woodstock from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Children under

Book Collection For
Brice Ward Memorial Library
During the Benefit Concert (see above), CRPA will
be taking children's book donations for Brice Ward, a local resident that
lost his life in a tragic accident in May. The children's books will be
donated to the Brice Ward Memorial Library at North Cobb Christian School
where Brice attended. Donations of books will be taken at the entrance
gates of the concert.
Family Violence Center
The Cherokee Family Violence Center is seeking
volunteers. The Center offers shelter and support groups for women and
children who are victims of domestic violence. The Center will be hosting
a free volunteer training session in the near future. For more information,

Kennesaw State
Golden U Lecture
Golden U, a program for people 50 and older
through Continuing Education at Kennesaw State University, will be conducting
a free lecture on Thursday, July 26, at 7 p.m. The lecture is titled Memoir

Parent's Survival Nights
Cherokee Recreation and Parks Authority Activities
Center is hosting "Parent's Survival Night" every Friday night from 7
