The Towne Lake Business
Association ("TLBA") is committed to maintaining for you, our neighbors
and loyal customers, an organization that will nurture and promote convenient,
dependable businesses to satisfy just about all of your needs without
ever leaving the Towne Lake area. In this column, we would like to update
you on our latest meeting and also present our views on the annexation
of certain commercial areas of Towne Lake into the city of Woodstock.
We as a business group strongly support and
are working for this annexation to occur for a variety of reasons. The
areas to be annexed consist principally of contigous commercial tracts
(with the consent of each such commercial landowner) from Deer Run to
The Shops at Eagle Pointe. First of all, the proposed annexation of these
commercial tracts will not affect residential areas that are currently
located in unincorporated Cherokee. However, it will increase the business
fire and protection rating for those properties annexed and would result
in a quicker response time from the Woodstock police and fire departments.
The annexation will also allow Towne Lake a greater voice in Woodstock
city affairs. Lastly, this move will help create a level playing field
for those restaurants who would like the same opportunity as those currently
located in Buckhead Crossing, such as Chili's and La Paz, to be able to
serve liquor during the week and beer and wine on Sundays. This equality
among restaurants will attract and maintain good operators and definitely
lessen the restaurant failure rate in Towne Lake. Let us know your thoughts
on this issue through our website at www.tlba.org.
