Towne Lake Men/Women's Singles Tennis Challenge

The Eagle Watch Tennis Association would like to offer a singles tennis challenge for the men and women of the Towne Lake area. Many men and women in the area compete each winter and summer in the USTA singles, but do not have an opportunity to practice before the season begins. A five week singles tennis round robin will begin the week of October 29. Opponents will schedule a match a week at a convenient time for both players. Divisions will be based on USTA ranking. Family Violence Center

The Cherokee Family Violence Center is seeking volunteers. The Center offers shelter and support groups for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Mission Trippers
Consignment Sale

The Mission Trippers of Hillside UMC will be holding a consignment sale on Friday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 4 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Some items offered for sale are children's youth and adult business and casual clothing, toys, baby equipment and maternity clothing. Pet Adoptions

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Off-

site pet adoptions are also held on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays at Hwy 92 PetsMart, 1st Saturday at the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake (Dr. Weaver), 3rd Saturday at Haynes Pet Center in Towne Lake, every Sunday at Hwy 92 PetsMart and the 2nd and 4th Sundays at Barrett Pkwy PetsMart. Summer Sizzler

The BridgeMill Tennis Club will host the second annual Summer Sizzler Tennis Tournament for adults on August 23 — 26. The event is presented by Northside Hospital — Cherokee and is open to all interested players. Proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cherokee County to assist with recreational equipment at the Cherokee County facility. All players will receive a tournament T-shirt. Senior Bowling League

Back 2 School
Readiness Program

Children's Restoration Network (CRN), is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless children and mothers. Currently, CRN works with 70 shelters covering 14 counties in the metro-Atlanta area. Volunteers are currently needed to staff a collection/information booth at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw. CRN will be collecting new school supplies for homeless children. The campaign will run through August 17. Please call the CRN office at (770) 649-7117 for additional details or to schedule a time.

Benefit Bike Tour

The Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be hosting the MS 150 Bike Tour on September 22 and 23. This is a bike tour for all cyclists. The challenge is two days of cycling 150 kilometers. Have fun and raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. For more information or to register online, visit http://www.nmssga.org.

Benefit Concert

Cherokee Recreation and Parks Authority, in conjunction with Cherokee County Schools, will be sponsoring the Save the Music for Cherokee County Benefit Concert on August 5. The concert will be held at the Hobgood Amphitheater in Towne Lake from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (gates open at 10 a.m.). Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
