The Places and
The Pleasures that
make Towne Lake.

Strolling Down the Sidewalk Hand-in-Hand... The retaining walls are just about complete, and I'm sure you've seen people running and walking down our new sidewalks along Rose Creek Drive. The construction of additional sidewalks along Towne Lake Parkway from I-575 to Bells Ferry are now underway according to Tommy Gray of Moreland, Altobelli & Associates, who is handling the project for the county. Commissioner Larry Singleton informed us that only one side (the north side) of Towne Lake Parkway will have sidewalks and that the funds for these sidewalks are from a federal grant.

Where is the New Stop Light at Eagle Watch? Remember when the Board of Commissioners approved the installation of a traffic light at the main entrance into Eagle Watch this past March? Well, the contract was awarded to R.J. Haynie and Associates from Forrest Park, GA that same month. And although we all realize that ordering the equipment and planning and designing the light takes time, should it really take over eight months to get one traffic light installed?! If you would like more information about this stop light, you can contact the County Engineer's office at (770) 479-0503.

Annexation Complete . . . for Now. After almost a year in the works, the annexation of nine commercial parcels into the City of Woodstock is complete. The parcels annexed were The Colonnade (CENTURY 21 Advantage), Kani House center, Towne Lake Square (Kroger), Burger King, Bruster's, Madison Self Storage, Zaxby's, the undeveloped parcel west of Zaxby's and the Shops at Eagle Pointe (Fresco's). What exactly will this mean to the businesses located in these parcels? The primary impact of the annexation is that restaurants located within these parcels are now under Woodstock ordinances, specifically liquor sales. Once a liquor license is obtained, these restaurants will be able to serve beer, wine and liquor seven days a week. Frescos and the Kani House have already applied for liquor licenses.

The TowneLaker has been informed that the other commercial parcels along Towne Lake Parkway and Eagle that were not included in this annexation may soon follow suit.

We at The TowneLaker would like to extend a giant "Thank You" from the Towne Lake community to Fresco's owner Sal Comarato for single-handedly pushing this annexation through. This change will have a tremendous positive impact on Towne Lake businesses for decades.

Fresco's Re-opening. Now that the annexation is complete, Fresco's owner, Sal Comarato, has announced that his restaurant will re-open November 15 with a completely revised menu. The new Fresco's will feature an Italian family-style menu and

atmosphere similar to what Comarato created at Fratelli Di Napoli, his previous restaurant. "Although the prices are expected to be a bit more affordable, the focus on excellent service will remain," says Comarato.

Patience is a Virtue. We here in the Towne Lake area have a great deal of patience, otherwise we would have all gone crazy waiting for the "repaving" of Towne Lake Parkway. The TowneLaker has been told that, no, we do not have to put up with "patches" everywhere on this road; in fact the patches are the first step to "a total repaving of the entire road."

Hunters on the Corps of Engineer Property? Several readers have reported gun shots and motorized vehicles on the Corp. of Engineer property surrounding parts of Towne Lake. This is a violation of a new law that was passed earlier this year. If you hear or see anything questionable, please call the Game Ranger Hotline at (800) 241-4113.

Talk of the Towne. Starting next month, The TowneLaker is starting a new column, Talk of the Towne. The content of this column will be 100% reader-provided and will focus on issues affecting the lives of Towne Lake area residents. It will be somewhat like the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's "Vent" and the Cherokee Ledger-News' "Soapbox," only more focused on Towne Lake. Let us hear what you have to say at editor@townelaker.com or (770) 517-8210 ext. 555.
