From
The Towne Lake
Business Association
A lot has happened since our last update.
The first phase of the annexation of commercial parcels along Towne Lake
Parkway and Eagle Drive has passed and several local restaurants are gearing
up to provide you with an expanded adult beverage selection, seven days
a week. This recent annexation only affected nine commercial parcels,
including the Kani House and The Shops at Eagle Pointe (Fresco's).
Negotiations are currently underway for the
next round of annexation. The South Pointe Shopping Center will most likely
seek annexation next. Tecali Grille, Johnny's Pizza and the vacated Blackberries
space are all located here. If the annexation effort is successful and
the necessary licenses are obtained, both Johnny's Pizza and Tecali Grille
will be able to serve beer on Sundays, and Tecali Grille can finally serve
real margaritas. A contingent agreement has been reached with the owners
of South Pointe for the addition of an old style neighborhood pub with
plenty of televisions for the sports minded, which will occupy the old
Blackberries space.
The holiday shopping season is now upon us.
The Towne Lake area offers great convenience, variety and value in our
many shops and businesses without ever leaving Towne. Here are just some
of the gift ideas from around Towne: a holiday basket from Towne Lake
Flowers & Gifts, unique gifts from the Wild Honeysuckle and the Silver
Lining, a membership to Towne Lake Fitness, children's furniture from
Wittle Ones, a cruise from Carlson Wagonlit or Laney International, children's
clothing from Tailored Tots, dazzling jewelry from Towne Lake Diamonds,
sporting apparel from Centre Court, and gift certificates from restaurants,
golf shops, grocery stores, karate or dance studios and more.
Please consider these businesses before you
decide to venture into other counties. Remember "Keeping Towne Lake
Dollars in Towne Lake" helps strengthen our community by providing
tax dollars for our schools, services, and infrastructure. Also, it's
local businesses that sponsor your children's ball teams and dance recitals.
We invite businesses in our community to
join us on Thursday, December 13, for our Holiday After Hours Social
from 6 - 7:30 pm at Fresco's. Please RSVP to (770) 517-8210, ext. 550
by December 10.
As the new year approaches, let us all be
grateful for what we have - the privilege to live freely in the greatest
nation on earth, the United States of America! We wish everyone a safe
and joyous holiday season and a happy new year. May God bless America!

Rose Creek Library
staff (left to right): Manager Sally Burton, Laura McLaughlin, Vicki Sellers,
Linda Head and Dede Peterson.
The Rose Creek Library opened to the public
in 1991. The Library has chosen "early childhood door to learning" as
its major library role and is working hard to provide quality children's
services to entice them to the library. The children's programming consists
of Tuesday and Wednesday story times for 3 - 5 year olds, a weekly toddler
story time, special tours and scheduled story times for daycares and pre-schools
in our area, and after-school activities for older children.
Library cards are free to residents of Cherokee
County. You may apply for a library card if you are at least five years
old and can show proof residence. Books can be checked out for two weeks
and may be renewed by phone or by the internet.
The technology keeps growing and growing.
The Library will soon have a total of 10 computers, ranging in use from
word processing software for adults to game computers with math, reading
and thinking skills for children.
The Library has a collection of just over
33,000 books. During the last quarter, 46,200 patrons visited the Library
and 646 new patrons were added. The circulation total for this period
amounted to 40,269 books, CDs, books on tape and equipment. They are quite
busy!
2001 will be the third year for our Festival
of Stockings. Bring a stocking and decorate the walls beginning November
26, or simply come and enjoy the stockings hanging on the walls.
Please call the Library at (770) 591-1491
for more information, or how to contribute to the Library.
