Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a great holiday and holiday vacation, I know I did. Well, it's back to school again and to help get into the learning mood here are some jokes on a subject we are all familiar with. See how many you can figure out.

Donald Kyle is the Children's Editor for The TowneLaker. He is in Mrs. Chester's second grade class at Bascomb Elementary. Donald is also the son of Gina Carr Kyle and Don Kyle.

Q: What did the tree say to the mathematician?

Chow Mein Candies

Here is a fun recipe for a delicious snack you can make on a cold day. It's easy to do, but there is some cooking so you will need adult help. Ask your mom, dad or favorite adult to help you.

What you will need
2, 6 oz pkg. semisweet chocolate chips.
2, 6 oz pkg. butterscotch chips.
2, 3oz. can chow mein noodles.
1/2 cup cashew nuts or salted peanuts.

What to do
1) Combine chocolate and butterscotch pieces in a heavy sauce pan.
2) Place over low heat and stir constantly until melted.
3) Remove from heat and stir in noodles and nuts.
4) Drop by teaspoonful on to waxed paper and let cool.
