Cherokee County Humane Society Foster
Rescue Program
CCHS Foster Rescue Program is in desperate
need of foster homes. As puppy and kitten season approaches, CCHS needs
to establish homes that will be ready to foster a litter with or without
a mother. When young kittens or puppies are turned into the shelter, it
is primarily because of risk of disease, and space constraints make it
impossible for them to stay there until they are old enough to be adopted.
If you are interested in more information about being a foster home for
puppies or kittens, please call Debbie Marcia at (770) 928-2784.
Family Violence Center
The Cherokee Family Violence Center is seeking
volunteers. The Center offers shelter and support groups for women and
children who are victims of domestic violence. The Center will be hosting
a free volunteer training session in the near future. For more information,
call Harriet Rogers, (770) 735-2218.
Cherokee County Meals-On-Wheels Seeks
Volunteers
Cherokee County Meals on Wheels is seeking
volunteers to work two hours one day per week or month from 10:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will be asked to pick up the meals at the Senior
Center on Univeter Drive in Canton and drive them to the homes of Seniors
on a given route. Volunteers are given explicit directions to the client's
homes and are initially taken out on the route by a staff member. For
more information, call Sharon Smith at (770) 345-7440.
