Talk of the Towne
Hooray for the speedbumps in Eagle Watch!
Thank you to the kind women in Publix who
helped me while I was trying to juggle a 2 year old, a case of coke and
my wallet. You obviously had small children yourself at one time.
In the March issue of the TowneLaker Magazine,
we incorrectly identified Linda Crow as Lynn Crow. Our sincere apologies
to Linda Crow and her Junior Girl Scout Troop #5809.

Letter to the
Editor . . .
Dear
Editor:
I am grateful for my community.
I have a wonderful community and I am surrounded
by caring people. I would like to thank some people and services of Cherokee
County.
I would like to thank the Cherokee County
Sheriff's Department for escorting a bothersome solicitor out of our neighborhood.
Several of my neighbors told him that there was no soliciting allowed
in our neighborhood, yet he continued to go from door to door trying to
sell his services. Two Sheriff's cars showed up and escorted him off the
property. I am very glad to see that they are responsive to our needs.
I want to thank the 911 service, the Emergency
Medical Teams, the Cherokee fire department, Kennestone Hospital, and
Scottish Rite Hospital. On Monday, March 11, my baby daughter had a febrile
seizure and convulsions for 10 minutes. The EMTs and fire department were
at my driveway in three minutes! They whisked my daughter into the ambulance
and took her to Kennestone. Somehow one of the EMTs got an IV started
and stopped the convulsions. She was stabilized at Kennestone and then
picked up by the Scottish Rite team. I thank the Lord daily that these
people were here to help and did so very quickly.
I would like to thank my babysitter, Oksana.
She was bathing (a warm bath, not cold) my baby daughter when the seizure
started. Oksana caught my daughter as she was pitching face forward into
the water. Oksana caught her before she went into the water and pulled
her out of the tub immediately. Her instincts told her that something
was wrong with the baby. Throughout the entire seizure, Oksana kept a
cool, level head and ran around the house fetching things for me, including
the Emergency Handbook I keep on the counter. I am so very lucky to have
such a mature babysitter who can handle things in a crisis.
I am blessed to have good people around me
who care about our family. My neighbors have been very supportive during
this time and have offered to help in any way they can. I am indeed grateful
to my community. Thank you all.

"Volley For A
Cause"
Logo Design Winner
The Junior Service League of Woodstock announces
the winner of the 7th annual "Volley For a Cause" tennis tournament logo
contest. This year, Conner Watts, a fourth grade student from Bascomb
Elementary, submitted the winning design for the tournament's tee shirt.
A total of 200 designs were entered by 4th through 6th grade students
from Chapman Intermediate and local elementaries, Bascomb, Carmel and
Boston. Conner's winning design reflected the tournament's theme of tennis
and fundraising for local charities. He received 2 free tee shirts and
a U.S. Savings Bond. Congratulations Conner!
