Summer Camps
for Kids

Summertime means camp-time for kids of all ages. Whether it's splashing in the lake, horse-back riding through the woods or creating masterpieces in an art studio — the Towne Lake area has many summer activities. Here are just some of the camps offered in the Towne Lake area.

Cherokee Recreation and Park Authority
CRPA All-Sport Camp

Ages: 6 - 8, Cost: $110
Dates: June 3 - 7, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Children will experience a variety of sports including soccer, softball/baseball, flag football, tennis and volleyball. The campers also will go bowling, swimming and play basketball at the Recreation Center. Early drop off and late pick up is available at the Recreation Center at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

Outdoor Camp

Ages: 7 - 12, Cost: $115
Dates: June 10 - 14, July 8 - 12, Aug 5 - 9, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Campers will experience exciting adventures outdoors, and they will canoe, hike, tube, swim, fish and more.

Teen Adventure Camp

Ages: 13 - 15, Cost: $200
Dates: June 24 - 28

A variety of activities are planned, including horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, and more in this new teen adventure camp.

Wilderness Camp

Ages: 6 - 10
Dates: July 22 - 26
Cost: $225

This new education camp will introduce your child to survival skills, camping skills, backpacking/hiking skills, and more.

Adventure Express Summer Camp

Ages: 6 - 12, Cost: $95 plus $20 registration fee
Dates: Weekly through summer

This camp runs weekly through the summer. The activities planned for the campers include field trips, games, sports, drama, arts and crafts, and community service projects.

Twirl Time Baton and Dance Camp

Ages: Grades 1 - 4 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Grades 5 - 12 from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Dates: June 11 - 14 (Monday, Thursday), Cost: $75

Camp Imagine 2002 Art Camp

Camp Little MOE
Ages: 3 - 4, Cost: $70, Time: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Camp LARRY
Ages: 5 - 6 and 7 - 8, Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Cost: $145 Full Day, ½ Day $80 (10:30 a.m. — 3:30 p.m.)

Camp CURLY
Ages: 9 - 10 and 11 - 12, Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Cherokee Outdoor YMCA Day Camps

Ages: Rising 1st through 10th graders
Dates: May 28 through August 9, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Outdoor YMCA on Lake Allatoona
Cost: $100 — $270 per week, scholarships available

There are more than 30 camps to choose from including:

Indian Camp - where campers in first grade can learn about Native Americans and how they depended on the earth. Play games that were originated by Native Americans, and create cool projects.

Horseback Camp - is for kids, 7 - 13, who love horses. Campers will learn how to properly groom, tack, and ride the horses and care of their stalls.

Outdoor Adventures - where children in fifth and sixth grades will build a fort, canoe and use a bow and arrow. Campers will learn the different types of campfires and create a work of art using all natural materials.

Camp Survivor - challenges children in fifth through tenth grades to learn the skills of outdoor living. Using teamwork, the campers will go into the wilderness, and they will raft the "Hooch" and have an overnight campout.

Water Sports - where children in fifth through ninth grades are on Lake Allatoona daily learning to water ski, use wake boards and kneeboards.

Cherokee Outdoor YMCA
Half-Pint Camp

Ages: 3 - 5, Cost: $70
Dates: May 29 through August 9, 9 a.m. — 1 p.m.

Children will swim, do arts and crafts, play games and learn about nature in this camp just for children ages three to five.

Dance Imagination Fairytale Camp

Ages: 2½ - 6, Cost: $48 — $132
Dates: June 3 through August 9, 9 a.m. — 12 p.m.

Camper will design their own take home costume from the theme of the week, enjoy a themed tea party, create their very own story-dance and more.

Montessori School of Woodstock
Summer Enrichment Program

Ages:   18 months — 12 years
Dates:   May 28 through August 9
Cost:   $160 per week or $610 per full month

This program includes exploring sea life, insects, animals, famous painters, inventors and their inventions to name a few. Also there will be a focus on Spanish as a second language, with crafts, decorating piñata, and a special activity called "Let's Have a Mexican Fiesta."

Towne Lake Arts Center 2002 Summer Camp

Ages: 5 - 14, Cost: $220
Dates: June 7 through August 2

Campers will perform a show they have created for family and friends at the end of the week. Emphasis is given to ensemble work and building confidence. Audition techniques, stage movement and more will be incorporated into the camps.

Arts Alliance of Georgia Art Camp, 2002

Ages: 6 - 12, Dates: June 12 through July 19
Ages: 12 - 14, Dates: June 24 through 28 only

Campers will enjoy weaving, making handmade paper, painting and drawing, clay sculpture and more.

Science Camp

Ages: 8 -12
Dates: June 10 - 14, 17 - 21, 24 - 28
Cost: $139 per camper, or $258 for two campers or sessions
Location: American Heritage Academy

Campers will learn how science is used in producing Hollywood's greatest movies! Computers and robotics and stop motion animation are just a few of the projects scheduled.

Summer Music Camps

Keyboard Camp
Ages: 6 - 9, Cost: $130 per week

Guitar Camp
Ages: 8 - 10, Cost: $130 per week
