Father's Day is
a pretty new holiday. The first Father's Day was observed on June 19,
1910 in Spokane, Washington. Sonora Smart Dodd proposed it in 1909 after
she attended a Mother's Day service. Mrs. Dodd wanted to honor her father,
William Smart, a Civil War veteran, who raised six children after his
wife died in childbirth.
You can honor your father
this year by coloring in the tie to the left, cut it out, punch holes
in the top and put a string through the top. Your Dad will love to wear
this tie for Father's Day. You can also color in the #1 Dad Award below,
fill in the information and give it to your Dad.
