Surf's Up

by Lorraine Allen Rose

With primaries coming up in August and elections just around the corner in November and in light of the events of this past year, our continuing War on Terrorism and the conflicts in the Middle East, I've become a greater news hound than ever — and that's quite a feat! I find that my most reliable and instantaneous information is found on the Internet and I thought I'd share some of my favorite News Sites with you. But first, a caution — just because a story is posted on a Web site or has been sent to you in an e-mail doesn't mean it's valid. Make certain to use Web sites of trusted news organizations or verify news found elsewhere though direct sources.

www.cnn.com This is the official Web site of the CNN network. The site is up to the minute with extensive world and national news. Surfers can also sign up for Breaking News alerts which are e-mailed as news occurs.

www.ajc.com This is the official Web site for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Regularly-updated local, national and world news is quickly available here.

www.msnbc.com MSNBC offers up-to-the-minute world and national news. They also offer e-mail breaking news alerts.

www.foxnews.comThe official Fox News site offers the latest world and national news.

www.worldmag.comThis is the official Web site of World Magazine which gives a journalistically-sound Christian perspective to World news. Think "Christian Time Magazine."

www.boortz.comWhen the main-stream news agencies just won't cut it for you, take a gander at Neal Boortz's Web site. Here you will find not only the opinion of the Talkmaster himself, but many links to news agencies and forums where you can find interesting and hard-hitting perspectives on World, national and local news. Love him or hate him, I've found that Boortz has the greatest links available!
