Music Therapy
with Healthy Beats

Healthy Beats provides music therapy services for children with special needs. Group and individual sessions are offered. Music therapy is the use of structured music to achieve individual goals. Groups are formed when five or more individuals close in age and similar in ability express interest in music therapy. Healthy Beats realizes that every individual has specific needs and goals. The therapeutic interventions in each session are tailored to fit the needs of every individual in a group. Each intervention benefits all of the group members, not just one or two. For more information about music therapy and how it can benefit your child, please contact Healthy Beats at (678) 520-3080. Sessions are available at your convenience. You may call to discuss what days/times best suit your needs.

Silver Roamers Club

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites and having a great time, then why not join the Silver Roamers Club! The Club meets once a month to discuss upcoming trips and to visit with each other. Benefits of membership include discounts on all trips and chances to win prizes by accumulating miles in the Roamer Mileage Club. Membership is open to adults 55 and older and costs $20 per year. For information, call Betsy Allgood at (770) 924-7768.

Fitness Walking

Walk anywhere you like to walk and earn mileage. Keep a log of the time and/or miles you walk. Incentives will be given at certain levels (prizes, free trips, lunch, etc.). Any kind of log is acceptable. Turn it in to Betsy at the monthly meetings (for non-members, turn it in on the first of each month). A luncheon will honor our fitness walkers at the end of the year.

Join the Silver Roamers for lunch at the Blue Willow Inn and Tour of the Fox Winery. Travel to Social Circle to have lunch at the Blue Willow Inn, voted best in the South by Southern Living Magazine. Enjoy a Southern Buffet and then head to the Fox Winery for a tour and tastes of Georgia wine. The cost for this trip including transportation, lunch and tour of the winery is $24 for members and $27 for non-members. Departure from the Recreation Center will be at 9:30 a.m. and from the Canton Senior Center at 10 a.m.

Join the Silver Roamers for a trip to the Theater in the Square on Wednesday, July 24 to see Smoke on the Mountain. In 1938 after the Great Depression, churches became religious and social centers for their members. Preacher Oglethorpe attempts to provide inspiration and hope for his congregants in the small community of Mount Pleasant, NC. He welcomes The Sanders Family Singers for some gospel singing and inspirational messages. At least that is what he intends. Sometimes words and circumstances cause embarrassment. But it is all brought together as a good time with the family's various talents, singing and musical abilities and religious conviction. The cost for this trip including transportation and admission is $20 for members and $22 for non-members. Departure from the Recreation Center will be at 11:45 a.m. and from the Canton Senior Center at 12:15 p.m.
