Cherryl Greenman has been promoted to Editor
of The TowneLaker and Sixes Living Magazine. Cherryl previously
held the position of Assistant Editor for these two publications, and
Editor/Ad Manager for the Around Town Community Magazine, Inc.'s real
estate magazine, viewtownelakehomes.com.
Cherryl has been involved
in publishing for several years and says, "I have always dealt with industry-oriented
magazines, and have really enjoyed the change to community magazines.
You are more connected to your readers and the community in which you
live." Cherryl moved to Georgia from Colorado in 1993 with her two children,
Dale 22 and Lori 16. "We call Georgia home now and are glad we made the
move."
The TowneLaker and Sixes Living
Magazine also announces the addition of Kara Kiefer as the new Assistant
Editor, replacing Cherryl Greenman in that role. Former Editor, Susan
Kyle, will be taking a temporary leave of absence as she awaits a new
addition to her family and will remain on board as Managing Editor. Kara
comes to The TowneLaker and Sixes Living Magazine with a
background in retail management. She was editor of her community newsletter
for four years and has a degree in Communications. "I have lived in the
Towne Lake area for eight years, and I have always wanted to be a part
of the magazines," said Kiefer. "I'm looking forward to positively contributing
to The TowneLaker and Sixes Living Magazine." Kara lives
in Towne Lake with her husband Mike and her two children, Brandon age
10, Garrett age 7 and their dog, Tucker.

Girl Scout Brownie Troop 21290 ended their
year with a community service project for the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
The troop decided to spend approximately 40 percent of the money that
they earned selling cookies to buy food for the Shelter. The troop went
to PetsMart in Woodstock where they toured the store and picked out dog
and cat food. They also collected towels and sheets from family, friends
and neighbors to donate. The troop then visited the Shelter to deliver
the items to the staff. The girls and leaders were pleasantly surprised
at how well kept and clean the animals and kennels were. "It is obvious
that the staff strives to maintain a high level of cleanliness. In these
crowded and cramped conditions, that is no small task," observed Troop
Leader Mary Kay Newman. "We felt that it was not only important for the
girls to donate items but to see the animals and conditions as well. We
discussed with them why the animals are at the Shelter and how important
it is to be a responsible pet owner. It was a tremendous learning experience
for the troop." The troop plans on helping the Shelter with more service
projects in the future. The Shelter is open for adoptions Monday through
Saturday from 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. For more information, call (770)
345-7270.
