Annual Clean-up
at
Lake Allatoona
The Great Lake Allatoona Clean-up is scheduled
for September 14 along its 270 mile shoreline. This has been an annual
event over the past 17 years, and last year, over 11 tons of debris were

Blood Drive
at Heritage Presbyterian
The Red Cross will be accepting blood donations
on September 10, from 2 until 7 p.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church in
the Fellowship Hall. For more information about the blood drive, call

Challenger Baseball Program
A new baseball league will begin September
7, at South Cherokee Recreation Association (SCRA) on Highway 5. The league
is for children who are physically or mentally challenged and are between
5 — 12 years of age. There is no cost and no registration, and each
player will have a "buddy" on the field for encouragement and assistance.
All players must have one parent present at all times. Games will be on
Saturday mornings beginning at 9 a.m. For more information, contact Tom

Cherokee County Humane
Society Community Events
During September, Sundance Center director,
Lisa Aspy, will donate 5% of the Center's entire month's revenue to the
Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS). The Sundance Center offers sports,
foot and therapeutic massages. The Sundance Center is located in Towne
Lake Fitness in the Southpointe Shopping Center. For more information,

On September 20 — 22, CCHS will have
their annual yard/antique/art sale. The sale will be at Bells Ferry Landing
Center on Highway 92 from 9 a.m. — 6 p.m. The organizers need donations
of good antiques, furniture, appliances, clothing (especially children's).
Volunteers to assist in picking up donations are also needed. If you can

Children's Consignment Sale
Born Again Blessings will hold their Fall/Winter

Hockey Time
USA Roller Hockey
Registration for the Fall 2002 roller hockey
season for ages 6 to adult is currently being accepted at the Cherokee
Recreation & Parks Authority Center. The season will begin September
14, and all games are played at the roller hockey rink located at the
Center. The cost is $180 per player and includes rink time and jersey.
Players will need to provide their own protective gear and equipment.

Infant and Child Car
Safety Seat Inspection
Boy Scout Troop 994 will be holding an infant
and child car safety seat inspection on Saturday, September 7 from 10
a.m. — 12 p.m. at Bascomb Elementary School. Representatives from
Cherokee Police, Fire, and EMT, as well as several Certified Car Seat
Inspection Technicians will assist the Scouts with the inspections. See
page 8 for more information.
Pet Adoptions
The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open
for adoptions Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Off-site
pet adoptions are also held on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays at Hwy
92 PetsMart, 1st Saturday at the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake (Dr. Weaver),
3rd Saturday at Haynes Pet Center in Towne Lake, every Sunday at Hwy 92
PetsMart and the 2nd and 4th Sundays at Barrett Pkwy PetsMart. All adoptions

people interested in becoming part of the "Finest Swim Team" in Georgia.

SPARE Seeks Volunteers
SPARE (Sterilizing pets and reducing euthanasia)
needs volunteers to assist with transporting pets of the elderly, disabled,
and disadvantaged to local veterinarians for spaying or neutering. Other
opportunities with SPARE include fundraising and community outreach events,
administrative tasks, and helping at the spay/neuter clinics. For more
