League Registration

Registration for returning teams will be September 3 through September 10, and new team registration will be September 11 through September 28. The season will begin mid-October and will cost $525 per team. For more information, call the Neely Hand at (770) 924-7768.

Ladies Only Handgun Class

Firearms instructor, Steve Scruggs, will be at the Recreation Center on Monday, September 23, from 6 — 9 p.m. to teach ladies how to become more proficient with a handgun. Come learn how to defend yourself in a criminal attack, sharpen your shooting skills, and load and unload a gun safely. Mr. Scruggs will also teach proper use, care and storage of a handgun and how to get over the fear of owning and possibly using a handgun. For more information, call Neely Hand at (770) 924-7768.

Music for the Younger Set

You don't have to be musical to enjoy this class with your child. The class is designed for children from birth to 4-years old. The goal of this class is to nurture the children's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. The classes will be held every Wednesday beginning September 11 and running through November 13 from 10 — 10:45 a.m. The cost is $155 and $75 for each additional sibling over 8 months and those 8 months and younger attend free with a registered sibling. Silver Roamers Club

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites and having a great time, then why not join the Silver Roamers Club! The Club meets once a month to discuss upcoming trips and to visit with each other. Benefits of membership include discounts on all trips and chances to win prizes by accumulating miles in the Roamer Mileage Club. Membership is open to adults 55 and older and costs $20 per year. This month's meeting will be Monday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at the Recreation Center. For information, call Betsy Allgood at (770) 924-7768.

stop at Apple Alley for a buffet lunch, then they will tour the Hill Crest Orchard and have fresh apple pie and cider. The cost will be $15 for members and $17 for non-members, which includes transportation, lunch, and the tour. If you wish to purchase apples, you will need to bring additional money. Departure from the Recreation Center will be at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. from the Canton Senor Center.

Andersonville, Americus,
and Plains Tour

The Silver Roamers will be traveling to three of the most historical sites in Georgia Tuesday, September 24, and Wednesday, September 25. The cost will be $85 for members and $90 for non-members, which includes transportation, hotel accommodations and a continential breakfast at the Windsor Hotel in Americus, buffet lunch in Andersonville and in Plains, plus all tour fees. You will need to bring extra money for dinner on Tuesday night. The tour will depart at 7:30 a.m. on September 24 from the Recreation Center, and 8 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center.

Fitness Walking

Walk anywhere you like to walk and earn mileage. Keep a log of the time and/or miles you walk. Incentives will be given at various levels (prizes, free trips, lunch, etc.). Any kind of log is acceptable. Turn it in to Betsy at the monthly meetings (for non-members, turn it in on the first of each month). A luncheon will honor our fitness walkers at the end of the year.

Senior Aerobics Program

The CRPA offers a fitness program specifically designed for Seniors on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Call Betsy Allgood at (770) 924-7768.

Recreation Center

The Center is located at the South Annex at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock. Hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Center is closed Sundays. The Center offers a variety of programs for residents and has several rooms available for rent including the Aerobics Room, Warming Kitchen, Community Room, and Pavilion.
