American Red Cross
Baby-Sitting

The Recreation Center is offering the Red Cross Baby-sitting Course on Monday, October 14, from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. The class is ideal for current and future baby-sitters and teaches correct bathing techniques, CPR skills, feeding, safe play and much more. Each participant will receive a baby-sitter's handbook and official certification. You will need to bring a sack lunch. The cost is $45 and is for ages 11 — 15. Canoeing Trip Down
the Etowah River

A canoeing trip down the Etowah River is planned for Sunday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a picnic lunch or a snack for yourself and your family. Also, everyone is asked to bring a trash bag. Life jackets are provided for all ages; there are weight limits. Space is limited, so early registration is required. Hunter's Safety Course

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1961 must complete a Georgia Hunter Safety Course prior to purchasing a hunting license. The Center is offering this course on Thursday, October 17 from 6 — 8 p.m. You may register at the Center and pick up a CD-ROM course, which must be completed prior to October 17. The CD-ROM course can be completed at home in approximately 8 hours. You can register online at georgiawildlife.com — click on Cherokee County, register, then drop by the Center to pick up the CD. Pee Wee Tennis

The second session of Pee Wee Tennis, for ages 4 — 8, will be each Wednesday, October 16 through November 6. The times are 3 — 3:30 p.m., 3:30 — 4 p.m., 4 — 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 — 5 p.m. The cost is $25 and all lessons are held at the Recreation Center. Women's 'Three on Three'
Basketball League

This league will play on Tuesday nights beginning October 29. Teams will play multiple games each week for a total of 30 games. The cost is $190 per team, and registration is being accepted until October 4. For more information, call Neely Hand at (770) 924-7768

Silver Roamers Club

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites and having a great time, then why not join the Silver Roamers Club! The Club meets once a month to discuss upcoming trips and to visit with each other. Benefits of membership include discounts on all trips and chances to win prizes by accumulating miles in the Roamer Mileage Club. Membership is open to adults 55 and older and costs $20 per year. This month's meeting will be Monday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at the Woodstock Family Restaurant on Hwy. 92. For information, call Betsy Allgood at (770) 924-7768.

The Silver Roamers are headed to Smithville Village on Thursday, October 3. The village is nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cost for transportation only is $3 for members and $5 for non-members. The group will have lunch at The Upstairs Galley Tea Room, so bring extra money. The group will leave the Recreation Center at 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center.

Join the Silver Roamers on Friday, October 11 for the opening day of the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival in Hiawassee. The cost for transportation and admission will be $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Bring additional money for lunch and treats. Departure from the Recreation Center will be at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center.

Senior Aerobics Program

The CRPA offers a fitness program specifically designed for Seniors on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Call Betsy Allgood at (770) 924-7768.

Recreation Center

The Center is located at the South Annex at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Center is closed Sundays. The Center offers a variety of programs for residents and has several rooms available for rent including the Aerobics Room, Warming Kitchen, Community Room, and Pavilion.  For information, call (770) 924-7768.
