From the
Towne Lake Business Association

Fall in north Georgia is beautiful with the turning of the leaves accompanied by cool, crisp nights. What a welcome break from the heat of summer. If you've never taken a ride north up I-75 or I-575, you owe it to yourself. The scenery is spectacular this time of year and it's a great way to enjoy time with your loved ones and friends.

Two current Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) members were elected recently to the County Commission. The TLBA would like to congratulate Mike Byrd as your new County Commission Chair and Derek Good as your new Post 4 Commissioner. Let's hope that our County Commission can now conduct themselves as civil servants with the infusion of some new TLBA blood.

Two additional TLBA members, Chip Rogers (R) and Jerry Moore (D), will be squaring off for State House District 15 in the November general election. Good luck to each of you.

The Towne Lake area should now be well-represented in decisions affecting all of Cherokee County, as our county continues to grow smartly. The TLBA is committed to improving the quality of life in our county and stands ready to provide our input (both positive and critical) as business leaders and residents of our great community.

As a reminder, we invite everyone to participate in the 2nd Annual TLBA Golf Tournament on October 17 at the Towne Lake Hills Golf Club. Get to know other area business owners and help local charitable and community groups supported by the TLBA.

"Why Radio Ads are Essential to Your Business" was the topic of our September workshop. We thank Sheila Jenkins of WCHK AM and WNSY FM for leading the workshop.

As always, we thank you for supporting our local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

Jim Cady, founder of People Create
Success
and Vice President of
Programs for the TLBA.

Jim Cady is the founder of People Create Success, a new consulting business in Woodstock that provides high performance coaching — assessment and training tools that focus on people as the key to higher levels of productivity and profitability.

In recent years a new business model known as high performance work systems has changed the way we think about people and how work is organized. A high performance organization is defined as "an organization in which each person is a contributing partner to the business." These environments require a deep respect and trust in people. People are not viewed as tools to be manipulated or controlled, but rather as thinking, feeling individuals who bring enormous energy, creativity and talent to their work.

Many companies have proven that investment in high performance training pays off — on the bottom line. They focus on entrusting and empowering employees, and communication is paramount. Employees really understand the business and are committed to getting results. Instead of controlling and solving daily problems, management becomes accountable to the workforce as facilitators and coaches. Employees are now enabled to take full responsibility for making decisions, solving problems and continuously improving the quality of their work.

Jim customizes specific training to help companies with critical needs. He also sponsors workshops that deal with real-world issues such as recruiting, communications, etc. These workshops are open to the public.
