Have you been somewhere really fun? Do you have a great birthday party idea? Send me some cool stuff (pictures would be great!). I'll tell the world about it!

Send it to: Donald Kyle, The TowneLaker, 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Suite 340, Woodstock, GA 30189. Or e-mail me at donald@townelaker.com. (770) 516-7105.

A few weeks ago, my Cub Scout pack (Pack 999) spent the night at the Atlanta zoo! It was a lot of fun. They called the program Night Crawlers because we crawled around the zoo all night (well, sort of).

We got to pet a snake, a tortoise, a gigantic roach and a chinchilla! We played Panda Jeopardy and learned a lot about how every animal has a special job to do on earth. I highly recommend Night Crawlers as a fun thing to do!

League Director and Children's Ministry Coordinator Terry Kerr, assists Katie Kemp with a shot. Explains Katie: "I wanted to play here because it was more fun than playing at my school. Playing at school made me nervous. I'm not nervous here." Katie is a fourth grader at Holly Springs Elementary and the daughter of Shelly and Jim Kemp.

It's hoops time again! My choice this year is once again the Upward Backetball league at Towne Lake Community Church.

Last year, a really cool thing happened in Upward that I don't think would happen in most leagues. There was a very special first grader named Brandon Leek.

Brandon was a neat kid, but he had a bit of a problem. Brandon couldn't see very well. In fact, his mom and dad, Terry and David Leek, said that he was legally blind for several years. Anyway, we were getting close to the end of the season and Brandon hadn't scored. So, one game, we all made sure that Brandon got the ball and that he got to score! Even the opposing team helped! Then the coaches turned Brandon upside down and pushed him through the basketball goal! It was pretty neat! I can't wait to play again!

It's not too late to sign up! Find out more at www.tlcchurch.org.

What does it take to get a fourth grader out of bed bright and early on a cold Saturday morning? A good cause, that's what!

In early November, Maggie Jones' fourth grade class held a car wash at the Towne Lake Longhorn's Steakhouse. The fundraiser was a Civic Safari project for Bascomb Elementary. They raised over $300, all of which went to the Cherokee County Family Violence Center.
