Happy New Year!! I hope the Holiday Season
has brought much joy and happiness and an opportunity to spend quality
time with your family. For those of you who traveled, welcome home. I
do have to say, moving down here from Michigan, that it sure is nice to
just "visit" snow rather than to have to constantly drive in it or shovel
it! I almost forgot what a "pothole" was, until I drove my car into one
while in Michigan over the holidays — must have been over a foot
deep!! The quality of the roads here in the south are truly appreciated
after that.
January brings us resolutions to try to keep.
Whatever you resolve this year, I suggest two things. One is to go public
with your resolution. You'll be more committed after you tell others about
your goal. Second is to make your goal attainable. You will be more focused
when you know the mission is achievable. The bottom line is resolutions
are ways to analyze yourself and commit to trying to be a better person.
I wish you luck and remember — anything worth having is worth
working for!
Last month we talked about the available
retail space in Towne Lake and asked what you thought we have too much
of or what you would like to see in the Towne Lake area. I thank everyone
who sent messages to me. Your ideas were great and showed your love and
concern for our community. First, what we have too much of — nine
banks, eight pizza places, and seven dry cleaners led our list of overkill.
Many interesting suggestions of what we needed were made. They included
a bookstore with a cafe like a Borders, Kinko's, Einstein's Bagels, a
neighborhood hardware store, a shoe store, a Thai restaurant, a Souper
Salad, a Boston Market, a family style restaurant like a Ryan's and even
a wrap sandwich store. We will pass these ideas onto area leasing agents,
developers and landlords, as well as the new Publix center coming soon.
I will tell you though, if all of these were to come about, I'd never
leave Towne Lake — we would have it all!!
As always, we thank you for supporting our
local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping
Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee." Have a happy, safe, and prosperous
new year!
