Oh Thank Heaven for Chili's Deserts

Since February is the month for Valentines, I thought I'd mention one of the things that I really love. I love dessert! And, my favorite dessert in the whole world is the Molten Lava Cake at Chili's. I've tried them all (well just about) and believe me, this can't be beat. Ice cream, fudge, hot cake, caramel! Yum, yum. I get hungry just thinking about it! Say hi to my friends at Chili's and tell them you want The TowneLaker Children's Editor Special!

Girl Scouts and their fathers danced the night away during a recent benefit dance. Troop 1987 hosted the event which was held at Bascomb Elementary.

Girl Scout Troop 1987 recently hosted a fund-raising ball for fathers and their daughters. The dance was organized by the 17 troop members, and invitations were extended to all Girl Scouts and their fathers in the Dandelion Service Unit. The dance provided a memorable evening for the over 400 attendees, but it also raised more than $1,100. The event was held in the Bascomb Elementary cafeteria, which had been transformed into an elegant ballroom.

The money raised will go to assist needy families in Cherokee County. $300 went directly to families, and the remainder went to support the Cherokee Family Violence Center.

Mrs. O'Mara's third grade class raised money for the Cherokee County Humane Society and recently presented a check for $300 to CCHS President Felicia McAleer.

In conjunction with the ongoing Civic Safari at Bascomb Elementary, Mrs. O'Mara's third grade class presented the Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS) with a check for $300. The class raised approximately $150 by holding a pet parade at CENTURY 21 Advantage during its recent Safari Santa. The remainder came from the sale of animal artwork at the Santa Safari. The class was full of excitement for the project and the students were all pleased they could do something different and fun to help the homeless animals of Cherokee County. Helping the CCHS has raised the children's awareness about the severity of the homeless animal population and the steps that need to be taken to curb the population growth.
