Hurricane Bay Car Wash

From the

Towne Lake Business Association

As we plough through the winter months, I have spoken with many of you about business in the Towne Lake area - what you like, what you don't like, what you wish were here. I gathered your thoughts and suggestions and let our community hear your voice in my column last month. I hope the owners, leasing agents and developers of shopping centers have heard our message and will deliver for us. It will certainly be in their best interest to provide new businesses for which there is demand in our community. Take a look at Cherryl Greenman's "Around Towne" column in The TowneLaker each month to get an update on what is new, and regrettably, what has closed in the Towne Lake area.

This month, I would like to talk to the consumer in each of us about how we can help our business community. There is a great phrase that goes "catch somebody doing something good." With today's news media, particularly the nightly news and newspapers, we are deluged with negative stories, from natural catastrophes to terrorist acts to financial disasters - you get the picture. With all this bombarding us, it's no wonder there is so much negativity in our world and in our minds. How do we stop it? Easy, just choose not to participate in "stinkin thinkin."

The Towne Lake Business Association was established specifically to help make our local businesses better, particularly for you, the consumers. We hold workshops to discuss improving customer service, working within our community and doing the things necessary to become not only better businesses but better people within our community. Can we improve? Yes we can. How can you help? When you catch somebody doing something good, Tell Somebody About It and spread the word. Statistics say that we tell nine people about a negative encounter and only one person about a good experience! Finally, if you have ideas or want to relate your experience to a local business, talk to them directly in person or by phone, mail or e-mail. Or if you prefer, let us know through www.tlba.org, and we will pass the message along.

As always, we thank you for supporting our local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

Debbie and Ken Emery, owners of Hurricane Bay Car Wash

The newest and one of the most innovative car washes in the country has recently opened in Towne Lake. After exploring several other sites within Cherokee County, local residents Debbie and Ken Emery opened Hurricane Bay Car Wash (Hurricane Bay) four months ago.

Open 24 hours each day, Hurricane Bay offers a choice of six self-service wash bays and two automatic touchless drive-thru bays. They also offer 10 super vacuums, 5 hot foam interior shampooers, 5 fragrance machines and a complete line of car care vending supplies. One of the unique features of Hurricane Bay is the ability to use your debit or credit card for any of these services.

Debbie and Ken have been in the car wash business for 5½ years. After buying and operating an existing car wash in Roswell, they decided to build the ultimate car wash in Towne Lake. Ken explained, "We wanted to build a car wash that the community would be proud of, and we think we have accomplished that." Not only were endless hours spent designing and building the facility, Debbie and Ken add their personal touch by being on site. In fact one, if not both, have been on site from morning to night since opening.

Debbie and Ken have lived in the Woodstock area for 16 years and have one daughter, Meghan, a cheerleader at Woodstock High. In addition to being members of the Towne Lake Business Association, they belong to the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. Since opening Hurricane Bay, they have donated monies to the Emergency Children's Shelter, participated in raffles for the community and area schools and sponsored several sports teams. They have also provided the use of their car wash for a fundraiser for the Woodstock High cheerleaders.

Hurricane Bay is located at 2907 Eagle Drive behind Bruster's Ice Cream. Give them a try!
