Mardi Gras recently came to the Arts Center in downtown Canton. The Center was transformed into a masquerade ball complete with a Dixieland Jazz band, dance music and a silent auction. The Ball coincided with the closing of the Center's Mask Exhibit. Masks on display included several from elementary school students and local businesses.

The First Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball was held as a benefit for the Center, which holds summer arts camps for children, art and drama classes, art exhibits, theater productions and music programs.

State Representative Chip Rogers presented Library Branch Manager Jan Fogarty Govenor Sonny Perdue's state budget.

Rose Creek Library now has official copies of Governor Sonny Perdue's state budget thanks to State Representative Chip Rogers. Rogers says the books will give citizens an even better chance to find waste in state government. "I have previously challenged the citizens of southwest Cherokee to help me find areas where the state has been wasting our money. The response to this challenge has been overwhelming. The simple truth is that private citizens have the best ideas about how we ought to govern." Ms. Fogarty said the books will be a welcome addition to the library's collection. "I'm sure our patrons will find this information very helpful. There is a wealth of information in the Fiscal Year 2004 budget and the Governor's Amended Fiscal Year 2004 budget," stated Ms. Fogarty.
