Etowah RVI Collecting Eyeglasses

Etowah High School's Related Vocational Instruction (RVI) will be collecting previously worn eye glasses to assist needy people with visual problems. If you would like to donate to this project, please call Bill McElderry of Etowah High School at (770) 926-4411.

Etowah River Clean-Up

The Upper Etowah River Alliance and the Cherokee County Recycling Center have teamed up to sponsor "The Protect The Etowah River Clean-Up Day." It will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Water, work gloves and trash bags will be supplied. For more information, please call Stan Hall at (770) 517-7650.

Flowers4Pets

Flowers4Pets is a collaboration between Brenda's House of Flowers and the Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS). For all orders received and processed through the special toll-free phone number, 50% of the profits will go toward assisting homeless animals. The phone number is 1-866-364-PETS (7387).

Junior Service League's
7th Annual Penny Harvest

On March 22 the Junior Service League of Woodstock will hold their 7th Annual Penny Harvest at Hobgood Park. Everyone is invited to bring their spare pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to the Park between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The money collected will benefit several charities in Cherokee County.

March of Dimes
Annual Golf Tournament

The second Annual March of Dimes Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 1 p.m. The tournament will be held at Woodmont Golf Club in Canton, and all proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. Woodstock Women's Society to Host Annual Tea and Fashion Show

The Woodstock Women's Society's Fifth Annual Tea and Fashion Show will be held on Saturday, March 22 from 1 - 3 p.m. at Our Special Place located on Arnold Mill Road in downtown Woodstock. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Emergency Children's Shelter of Cherokee County. Tickets can be purchased at Maggie's Closet on Highway 92, Betsy's On Main Street or by calling Brenda Bowen at (770) 926-8055.

Young Miss Cherokee
County Pageant

The Young Miss Cherokee County Pageant for infant through 17 year old girls will be held on Saturday, March 29 at the Recreation Center in Woodstock. The deadline for early registration is March 15. The proceeds from the pageant will be used for scholarships given to local participants of the Miss Cherokee County Scholarship Program. For more information, please call (770) 516-7070.

Bascomb's Spring Splash

Bascomb Elementary will hold its Annual Spring Splash on Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Activities include a giant slide, cake walk, carnival games, a gift basket raffle and a silent auction. C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Organization
to Help Obese Kids

The Center Helping the Obesity in Children has started a fitness program for overweight and obese kids ages 11 - 17. A certified personal trainer meets with the kids each Monday and Friday from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. at the CRPA. For information, please call (770) 952-7502.

Challenger Baseball

The Challenger Baseball program of Cherokee County will begin March 22. The program is for mentally and physically challenged children, ages 5 through 12, who are not able to participate in mainstream baseball. Registration is not required. Cherokee County Senior Services Hosting Silent Auction

The Cherokee County Senior Services, in collaboration with the Volunteer Aging Council (VAC), will hold their Annual Auction Gala on March 8 at the Holly Springs Train Depot. The proceeds from the event will go toward helping Seniors who have little or no means to pay for services, such as medical prescriptions, eye and dental exams, utilities, groceries and minor home repairs. Children's Consignment Sale

On March 21 and 22, Hillside United Methodist Church Mission Trippers will hold their Annual Consignment Sale. The sale will be from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on March 21 and 9 a.m. - 12 noon on March 22. Christian Family Theatre

Christian Family Theatre is a non-denominational group of children in eighth grade through college. They are presently holding classes at Calvary Chapel Northwest in Woodstock on Monday evenings. Curves Fitness Center
Hosts Food Drive

Curves, 30 Minute Fitness and Weight Loss Center, will host the Fifth Annual "Food for Friends" food drive benefiting local food banks. Anyone joining Curves the week of March 17 may bring a bag of non-perishable groceries and have the normal service fee waived. Curves has two locations in Woodstock, 2485 Towne Lake Parkway and 9550 Main Street.
