From the

Towne Lake Business Association

Spring is around the corner!! With the cold winter we have just experienced, we welcome the coming of great weather and the rejuvenation spring brings - it just puts you in a great mood.

I am proud to announce that the Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA), through the support of our wonderful members and the Towne Lake area community, will be starting a scholarship program this year for two deserving college or technical school-bound high school seniors. We have established two-$1,000 scholarships, awarding one each to a graduating senior at Etowah and Woodstock High Schools. We are currently finalizing the criteria for these scholarships with the input of our local business leaders and faculty at both of these schools. Our desire is to identify students who have demonstrated a blend of scholastic achievement along with entrepreneurial enthusiasm and spirit. We look forward to assisting two deserving future leaders within our community as they pursue higher education. I will keep you updated in future columns.

I want to congratulate four Towne Lake residents - Mike Byrd, Chip Rogers, Derek Good and Patricia Baker - for starting their terms in public office for the citizens of Cherokee County. I would say the Towne Lake area is now well-represented by our own residents. My hope is that they will proudly represent the interests of the Towne Lake area community with no personal, hidden agendas. I believe they will do a great job and will listen to your suggestions and ideas. Let's help them help us build the best possible county in Georgia. The TLBA looks forward to working with each of them. In talking with Mike Byrd, I feel that he will be working hard to create jobs by attracting more businesses to Cherokee County. After all, we already have great residential communities, so it only makes sense to attract new employers to our wonderful community. These new businesses will then provide more dollars for schools, roads and other much needed programs that will enhance Cherokee's quality of life.

As always, we thank you for supporting our local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

Office manager and Reike master Marilyn Meyers and Dr. Alan Beckerman

Alan Beckerman, a Doctor of Chiropractic, opened his office in Towne Lake in 1998. Dr. Beckerman is a New York native who gained extensive experience as a chiropractic healer in Santa Barbara, California, where he had a thriving practice for nearly 15 years. He and his family relocated to Woodstock to enjoy the community's lifestyle, golf courses, and nearby hiking trails. A gifted, holistic practitioner, Dr. Beckerman is sought after for his knowledge of biomechanics, adjusting techniques, nutrition, and ability to achieve results. His practice centers on the treatment of families, athletes, and injury victims - often-healing problems that have challenged other health providers. His work entails musculoskeletal and other screenings and specific chiropractic spinal adjustments. He also provides nutritional and lifestyle counseling. For 2003, Dr. Beckerman has added Reiki energetic balancing with Marilyn Meyer as an additional service available at his office - thus their new name "In-Balance Holistic Chiropractic."

Dr. Beckerman uses kinesiology to precisely identify key muscle imbalance and vertebral misalignments. With the additional information this type of analysis provides, he can identify exactly which muscle and vertebrae are dysfunctional and correct the problem. This approach yields greater amounts of information to find subtle underlying causes of the problems being addressed and therefore a faster return to normal.

Dr. Beckerman has been an active member of the Towne Lake Business Association since 1999.

In-Balance Holistic Chiropractic is located at 2230 Towne Lake Parkway, Building 100, Suite 120. You can reach Dr. Beckerman at (770) 445-1400 or neuralnet@earthlink.net.
