Summer Camps
for Kids
Summertime means camp-time for kids of
all ages. Whether it's splashing in the lake, horse-back riding through
the woods or creating masterpieces in an art studio - the Towne Lake area
has many summer activities. Here are just some of the camps offered in
the Towne Lake area. The TowneLaker will run this information again
in the May issue as additional camp listings become available.

Outdoor Expeditions
Registration begins April 28
Dates: June 9 - 13, July 28 - August 1, Ages: 7 - 13
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Cost: $115

This camp is designed for participants to experience outdoor adventures.
Everyday will be a new adventure and will include canoeing, hiking, swimming,
fishing and even tubing in Helen.
All Sport Camp
Registration begins April 28
Date: June 2 - 6, Ages: 6 - 8
Time: 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Cost: $85

This camp will allow children to experience a variety
of sports, including soccer, basketball, softball, flag football and tennis.
Each day will include three different activities.
Adventures Express
Summer Day Camp

This camp will be filled with games, arts and crafts, field trips, movies
and special events and will take place at Mountain Road Elementary School.
Teen
Adventure Camp
Registration begins May 5
Date: July 14 - 18, Ages: 13 - 15
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Extended care available from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. for
$20, Cost: $180

This camp will introduce teens to water sports, rock climbing, equestrian
and more.
Towne Lake Arts
Center

Participants will write, produce and perform an
original play with music.
Junior Camp

Participants will prepare and perform a children's story with songs.
Dance Imagination

Each camp is a special themed week. Campers will design and take home
his or her own costume, enjoy a themed tea party and snack and create
his or her own storydance. There will be a special performance every Friday
morning.

There are several camps to choose from, ranging
from camps which offer a lot of variety to specialized camps.
Crusaders
- This camp is for age six. Activities include games, sports, daily swims
and much more.
Nina's Little Ninja's
- This camp is for age six and will be spent with Black Belt Instructor
Nina Beal. The camp will teach the important qualities of respect, self
control and confidence.
Indian Camp
- This camp is for ages six through eight. Campers will learn about the
different Indian tribes and how they lived.
Swim Camp
- This camp is for ages six through eight and will teach water safety
and overall swimming skills. Lessons and free swim will be included in
the day.
Gymnastics
- This camp is for ages six through eight and will be conducted at the
World of Gymnastics. It is designed for the beginner and advanced gymnast.
The afternoon will include additional day camp activities such as swimming
and crafts.
Challengers
- This camp is for
ages nine and ten. There are a wide assortment of age appropriate activities
including games, swimming, arts and crafts and more.

Project H2O
- This camp is for
ages nine and ten. Campers will visit the Lake Allatoona Preservation
Authority's Water Resource Center. Campers will learn about the lake and
water shed, while conducting chemical and physical tests on the water.
Outdoor Adventures
- This camp is for
ages nine and ten, and campers will participate in fort building, archery,
canoeing and much more. Campers will also learn fire safety and fire building
techniques.
Kayaking Camp
- This camp is for ages nine through thirteen. Campers will learn how
to handle a kayak in the water, including proper strokes and steering.
Water Sports
- This camp is for ages nine through thirteen. Campers will experience
canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats and tubing.
Trailblazers
- This camp is for ages 11 through 13. Campers will participate in team
building and adventure through activities geared for the older camper.
One fun and exciting field trip is planned each week.
Camp Survivor
- This camp is for ages 11 through 13. Campers will learn the skills of
outdoor living. Campers will raft the Chattahoochee or experience an overnight
campout on the YMCA property.
Guard Start
- This camp is for ages 12 through 15 and teaches the proper response
to any aquatic mishap. Each participant must know how to swim and tread
water. Response book and materials are provided.
Swim Lessons
- This camp is for ages seven and older. These lessons are available for
campers at 4 p.m. daily during post-camp.
C.I.L.T. (Campers
in Leadership Training) - This camp is
for ages 14 and 15 and is for teens who are interested in becoming camp
counselors in the future. As a C.I.L.T. participant, campers will shadow

Cherokee Outdoor
YMCA Half Pint Camp
Dates: May 27 - August 8, Ages: 4

This camp runs for three hours each day and includes
daily visits to the playground and wading pool. Campers participate in
arts and crafts, games and other activities.
Summer Music Camp
