Hey Kids!

Towne Lake kids have been really busy with special activities at their schools recently.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in Read Across America and also the kids who sold 10 or more coupon books at Carmel Elementary School!

If you would like me to include something fun you have done at school or at an activity, let me know! You can send it to: Donald Kyle, The TowneLaker, 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Suite 340, Woodstock, GA 30189. Or email me at donald@townelaker.com.

Several hard working salespeople at Carmel Elementary School won lunch and a limousine ride recently. The entire school participated in selling Enjoy the City coupon books, and those who sold 10 or more books were treated to the limo ride and lunch at Stevie B's. The fundraiser, which earned more than $4,000, went toward the building of a new baseball field at the school.

"If I Ran the Zoo" Character Visits
Carmel Elementary

Carmel Elementary School celebrated Read Across America in a variety of ways. The Kindergarten classes all completed a unit on Dr. Seuss and they dressed as their favorite character from a Dr. Seuss book. Several classes in all grade levels had special guest readers read a favorite Dr. Seuss book, and the Media Center played Dr. Seuss videos throughout the day.

In conjunction with the National Education Association's Read Across American Program, Bascomb Elementary School students wrote book reports on brown paper sacks from Publix Supermarket. Robin Kenerly and Sue Dean of Publix accepted six boxes of Brown Bag Book Reports to be distributed to lucky Publix customers. Special guests, the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat were also on hand for the celebration. Read Across America is an annual celebration, which takes place on or around the beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss' Birthday.
