From the

Towne Lake Business Association

The Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) is pleased to inform all the parents of seniors at Woodstock and Etowah High Schools that we have finalized the criteria for our first annual TLBA Scholarships. In summary, the TLBA will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships, one each to a college or technical school-bound graduating senior at each school! Unlike many scholarships, which are typically based solely on scholastic achievement, ours will have additional required criteria. Our goal is to identify those students with true entrepreneurial spirit and vision, along with a history of community involvement. We have worked closely with the schools to identify candidates who meet these criteria. A panel of TLBA members in coordination with the schools will review the applicants to determine the finalists and ultimate winners.

The weighted criteria will include a) description of any entrepreneurial ventures with which they have been involved, b) their understanding of keys to a successful business venture, c) a business venture that they believe is needed today, d) their career aspirations, e) their academic achievements, f) their leadership roles and g) their community service. Student Counselors at each school will have application forms available for interested students. We are excited about helping future business leaders as they begin their journey in life.

Congratulations to all the winners of The TowneLaker's "Readers' Choice Awards." I commend all of you for your efforts to make a difference in what you do and being recognized as the "Best of the Best" by our community!

To those in our community that are not yet part of the TLBA, I urge you to attend our monthly Lunch 'N' Learn workshops. It's clear that education, idea sharing, and community involvement helps businesses become a success. For more information on joining the TLBA, please visit www.tlba.org.

We wish a Happy Easter and a great spring to all. As always, we thank you for supporting our local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

David Bufton, President and owner of ABC Stoneways, Inc.

ABC Stoneways, Inc. (ABC) is a local Woodstock-based paver design and installation firm. The company offers complete design services for hardscape needs such as driveways, walkways, patios, pool surrounds, retaining walls and steps. They also provides all necessary services from design, demolition, installation and clean up.

Staging area transformation is the objective for each installation performed by ABC. ABC can transform driveways into receiving areas, walkways into winding English cobblestone gardenways and backyards into personal retreats. Concrete pool decks can be transformed into dynamic entertainment areas through the use of design, patterns, color and material selection. They accomplish these transformations through the use of concrete pavers, or more commonly, cobblestones.

ABC is pleased to offer Belgard concrete pavers, the ultimate in quality and durability. The products used last for centuries, and ABC offers a five-year warranty on all completed projects. Belgard has a limited lifetime guarantee on their products. ABC is confident that all their customers will be completely satisfied, hence the substantial warranty.

The goal at ABC is to give each client complete attention that their project requires and demands. ABC will consult with potential customers to determine specific individual needs, applications and goals.

David is a member of Power Core and he also volunteers as coach for his son's roller hockey team at the the Cherokee Recreation Center.
