"Paw Tracks"
Founder to Speak
The Cherokee County Humane Society Community
Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at the Woodstock Library on Main
Street at 7 p.m. Bob Christiansen, the president of the Atlanta Animal
Alliance, will introduce a program called "Paw Tracks." Paw Tracks is
a lost pet recovery program which could provide funding for animal programs
including county wide spay/neuter programs, animal care education, marketing
shelter animals, aggressive adoption programs and more animal control
officers to help prevent animal cruelty.
Bob is also involved with Project Catsnip
- a low cost spay/neuter program. Twice a month, in a partnership with
the Cherokee County Humane Society, Bob and his staff come to Cherokee
County and perform the low cost spaying/neutering on animals. For more
information, please call Felicia McAleer, president of Cherokee County
Humane Society, at (770) 516-7885.

Girl Scout Troop 5809 recently donated an
American flag and flagpole to the Towne Lake community. The Troop, led
by Linda Crow, held a silent auction earlier this year to raise money
for the project. The girls got the inspiration for the flag and pole after
September 11 and chose this particular community service project for their
Junior Girl Scout Bronze Award. The flag now flies proudly at Hillside
United Methodist Church. The troop will use this site to hold their bridging
ceremony, a ceremony for all Girl Scouts moving up to the next level of
Girl Scouts, in May. The troop is comprised of Towne Lake area girls.

Familiar Faces...
you know, the people you often see around Towne. Each month, we are going
to feature one of these individuals. So the next time you see them, you
can say, "I know you - you were the 'Familiar Face' last month in The
TowneLaker."
Our first "Familiar Face" is Ramon Benitez.
Ramon is the manager at El Ranchero Mexican Restaurante in the Towne Lake
Village Center and has been for the past five years. He also manages Dos
Margaritas in Canton and is opening a new restaurant in the new
shopping center at the intersection of East Cherokee Drive and Highway
5. The name of this new restaurant will also be El Ranchero! Ramon and
his wife Guille have three children, Amber 17, Freddy 15 and Leslie 3.
"I am glad to not just have customers, but I have made a lot of good friends
in Towne Lake. And thanks for voting El Ranchero the 'Best of the Best'
for the 5th year in a row for The TowneLaker's Readers' Choice
Awards."
