Summer Camps
for Kids

Summertime means camp-time for kids of all ages. Whether it's splashing in the lake, horse-back riding through the woods or creating masterpieces in an art studio, the Towne Lake area has many summer activities. Here are just some of the camps offered in the Towne Lake area. The TowneLaker received new camp listings in addition to those printed in the April issue. To make it more convenient for our readers, we listed the new camps first, in italics.

Arts Alliance of GA
Art Camp 2003

Dates: June 2 - June 27, Ages:6 - 12
Time: 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Cost: $110, plus $15 supplies and insurance fee

Location: Holly Springs Elementary School
Campers will need to bring lunch and wear old clothes due to paint and clay.

Kramer Youth Basketball Camp

Dates: May 26 - 30, Ages: 8 - 12
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: $150, plus $25 non-refundable registration fee

Campers will learn basketball skills. Lunch will be furnished and after camp care will be available.

Safety Towne Camp

Registration begins May 17 at Rose Creek Library at 9 a.m.
Dates: July 7 - 11 and July 14 - 18, Ages: 4 - 5
Time: 9 a.m. - 12 noon or 6 - 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $25 per child, per week

Location: Bascomb Elementary School
A pint-size town where children receive safety messages in a classroom environment using videos, books, fun projects and special guests, such as policemen, reinforced with practice in a child-size town.

Small World Country
School Summer Camp

Dates: May 27 - August 8, Ages: 5 - 10
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $135 per week

This camp will offer a variety of activities for the children, including arts, music, story times, sports, and three days of pool activity. The camp will also offer swimming lessons, cheerleading and karate.

Outdoor Expeditions
Registration begins April 28

Dates: June 9 - 13, July 28 - August 1, Ages: 7 - 13
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Cost: $115

This camp is designed for participants to experience outdoor adventures. Everyday will be a new adventure and will include canoeing, hiking, swimming, fishing and even tubing in Helen.

All Sport Camp

Registration begins April 28
Date: June 2 - 6, Ages: 6 - 8
Time: 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Cost: $85

This camp will allow children to experience a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, softball, flag football and tennis. Each day will include three different activities.

Adventures Express Summer Day Camp

Open Registration on April 28 beginning at 6 p.m.
Date: May 27 - August 8, Ages: 6 - 12
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Cost: $95/week plus $20 Registration Fee (Siblings $91/week)

This camp will be filled with games, arts and crafts, field trips, movies and special events and will take place at Mountain Road Elementary School.

Teen Adventure Camp

Date: July 14 - 18, Ages: 13 - 15
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Extended care available from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. for $20, Cost: $180

This camp will introduce teens to water sports, rock climbing, equestrian and more.

Towne Lake Arts Center

Dates: June 2 - August 1, Ages: 7 - 14
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., before and after care available

Participants will write, produce and perform an original play with music.

Junior Camp - Dates: June 2 - August 1, Ages: 5 - 6, Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., before and after care available, Cost: $220

Participants will prepare and perform a children's story with songs.

Dance Imagination - Dates: May 19 - August 8, Ages: 2½ - 6

Each camp is a special themed week. Campers will design and take home his or her own costume, enjoy a themed tea party and snack and create his or her own storydance. There will be a special performance every Friday morning.

Cherokee Outdoor YMCA

Dates: May 27 - August 8, Ages: 7 - 15
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Cost: $105 - $280 per week

There are several camps to choose from, ranging from camps which offer a lot of variety to specialized camps.

Crusaders - This camp is for age six. Activities include games, sports, daily swims and much more.

Nina's Little Ninja's - This camp is for age six and will be spent with Black Belt Instructor Nina Beal. The camp will teach the important qualities of respect, self control and confidence.

Indian Camp - This camp is for ages six through eight. Campers will learn about the different Indian tribes and how they lived.

Swim Camp - This camp is for ages six through eight and will teach water safety and overall swimming skills. Lessons and free swim will be included in the day.

Gymnastics - This camp is for ages six through eight and will be conducted at the World of Gymnastics. It is designed for the beginner and advanced gymnast. The afternoon will include additional day camp activities such as swimming and crafts.

Challengers - This camp is for ages nine and ten. There are a wide assortment of age appropriate activities including games, swimming, arts and crafts and more.
