The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Authority (CRPA) serves all of Cherokee County with recreational activities for all ages.

Adventures Express Summer Day Camp

This camp will run May 27 through August 8 and will be filled with games, arts and crafts, field trips, movies and special events. The cost is a $20 registration fee, plus $95 per week (siblings are $91 per week). The camp is for children ages six - twelve.

Aerobic Classes

Aerobic classes are held each day at the Center. Classes can include step aerobics, low-impact aerobics, and toning. The cost is $28 per month, $25 per month for Seniors and $5 per class for drop ins.

All Sports Camp

This camp will allow children ages six - eight to experience a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, softball, flag football and tennis. Each day will include three different activities. The camp will be June 2 - 6 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The cost is $85.

Gymnastics Birthday Parties

The CRPA offers birthday parties for ages four and above. The party includes a gymnastics instructor, use of the gym, a private party room, exciting activities, music and more. The cost is $85 for up to 10 children and $5 for each additional child. The party room is available for two hours, additional time is available for $10 per half hour.

Tang Soo Do

This form of martial arts is for everyone; children, teens and adults. It builds self-esteem and confidence and teaches discipline and self-defense capabilities. The class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. and is for ages six and older. The cost is $45 for two days per week monthly or $30 for one day per week monthly. C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Organization to Help Obese Kids

The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc. is a fitness program for overweight and obese kids ages 11 - 17 at the Recreation Center. This program is held each Monday and Friday from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. The cost is $15 per week. C.H.O.I.C.E.S. is devoted to combating obesity in children. A personal trainer and staff will introduce your child to a range of activities such as aerobics, basketball, tennis, and nutrition. For more information, contact Vanetta Keyes at (770) 952-7502.

Fencing Fun for ages 11 and up is just one of the many programs offered at the CRPA Recreation Center. The Recreation Center is located at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock. For more information, call (770) 924-7768.

Silver Roamers

If you enjoy meeting people, visiting sites and having a great time, the Silver Roamers Club is for you. The next meeting will be on Monday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at the Woodstock Family Restaurant on Hwy. 92. Membership is only $20 per year, which allows you many benefits including discounts on events and trips. If you are interested in joining, simply stop by the Center and apply.

Join the Silver Roamers for an afternoon of Bingo. The CRPA will sponsor a Mother's Day Bingo on Thursday, May 8, beginning at 2 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a favorite afternoon snack to share. Drinks and prizes will be provided. The event is free for all mothers who are members. Otherwise it's $3 for members and $5 for non-members.

On Wednesday, May 14, join the Silver Roamers as they head to the Jarrell Plantation. This middle Georgia plantation consists of 20 buildings dating between 1847 and 1945. It also has one of the largest and most complete collections of original family artifacts from this time period. After the tour, the group will head to Juliette, Georgia for lunch at the Whistle Stop Café, home of Fried Green Tomatoes. The cost is $7 for members and $9 for non-members and includes tour and transportation only. Extra money will be needed for lunch. The buses will leave the Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. from the Canton Senior Center.

Recreation Center

The Center is located at the South Annex at 7545 Main Street in Woodstock. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Center is closed on Sunday. The Center offers a variety of programs for residents and has several rooms available for rent.
