Towne Lake Diner
Little River Grill

by Kara Kiefer

One of the best things about living in the Towne Lake area is the proximity to Lake Allatoona. Sure, the lake offers boating, fishing and swimming, but there was always something missing - a consistently good place to eat on the water. Little River Grill has fixed that problem.

Little River Grill sits at the edge of Lake Allatoona across the street from Little River Marina. It's been owned and operated by David Swain since last fall. $250,000 was put into renovating the building, including a new, upgraded kitchen, new décor, refurbished porch with a permanent awning, and a remodeled lower deck.

And what about the food? David and his wife Jeanne brought chef Wes Robinson with them from their Beauford, SC restaurant. Wes is from the "low country" and his creations reflect that influence as well as having a Cajun flair. The restaurant features a complete wine list, wonderful appetizers and delicious desserts. Little River Grill specializes in seafood. Staples on the menu include their popular signature steak which is a filet topped with crabmeat, placed on a portabella mushroom and covered with a wild mushroom sauce. Hungry yet? There's also the wildly popular blackened salmon with sauteed shrimp and a Cajun cream sauce as well as a potato encrusted grouper. The nightly specials are driven by the freshest meats and seafood Wes can find. David describes his restaurant as "upscale food, reasonably priced in an unpretentious atmosphere." The bottom deck of Little River Grill is scheduled to serve lunch daily and offers live acoustic blues and jazz on Friday and Saturday nights. And if all of this doesn't convince you to try Little River Grill, David also rents pontoon boats and has added two docks to the existing one for his boating customers. Little River Grill can also host banquets, receptions and rehearsal dinners. Future plans include weekend brunches. Whether you come by land or by water, Little River Grill is a MUST for summer dining!
