Blood Drives
The American Red Cross
is in need of blood donations, all types, but especially "O." Donating
is safe and takes about an hour. Most healthy people who are at least
17 years-old and weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to give. Blood
drives will be held at the following locations:
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,
June 8 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Allen Temple Church, June 9 from 3 - 8 p.m.
and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, June 15 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Art Show For Animals
The Cherokee County Humane Society is looking
for artists to participate in an art show for animals. All mediums of
art are welcome such as paintings, ceramics, jewelry, pottery and fine
crafts. The art will be displayed in a protected, indoor environment.

Division will hold a seminar on How to Buy a Business on June 26

Dolphin Project of Georgia
Training Session
The Dolphin Project of Georgia, an all-volunteer,
non-profit organization will hold a training session for those interested
in volunteering for the scientific research of dolphins. The project surveys
the waters of Coastal Georgia for research into the habitats and activities
of the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. Volunteer candidates need to be at
least 18 years old. The training session will be on Saturday, June 7 at

Cherokee County Humane Society and Flowers4Pets
Remember Dad and help homeless pets for Father's
Day, Sunday, June 15. Flowers4Pets is an FTD floral and gift basket service
which donates a portion of the profits to the Cherokee County Humane Society
(CCHS). To order your Father's Day flowers, plants or a special FTD Father's

Golf Tournament
to Benefit
Breast Cancer Walk
A charity golf tournament will be held on
Thursday, June 5 at Bradshaw Farms Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament
will go toward the 2003 Breast Cancer Walk which will be held in September
in Atlanta. Registration can be mailed in or submitted on the day of the
tournament. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
Late registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per player. To
make a donation, please make checks payable to Breast Cancer Walk and
mail to Sue Gagain, 3518 Vintage Trail, Woodstock, GA 30189.
Last Saturday Night at Latimer Hall
On the last Saturday of every month, Latimer
Hall in downtown Woodstock will host a musical performance. On Saturday,
June 28 at 8 p.m., the group Open Heart will perform. The show
is presented by Woodstock United Methodist Church in cooperation with
the Christian Contemporary Music Amateur Artists' Network. Admission is
free with a donation to MUST Ministries of protein-based foods, such as
peanut butter, canned meats, etc. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Music will be
from 8 - 10 p.m. Refreshments will be available. For more information,

MUST Ministries
Summer Lunch Program
Since 1995, MUST Ministries has fed hundreds
of hungry children through its Summer Lunch Program. The program will
run through August 8. The program relies solely on monetary donations
and volunteers to prepare approximately 525 lunches per day for the Cherokee

Papa's Pantry
Papa's Pantry is a year-round local food
ministry that reaches out to families who experience an unexpected time
of need. Special needs currently are non-perishables. Pasta sauce is always
welcomed. Monetary donations are also encouraged to purchase perishable
items. A collection barrel is available at The TowneLaker office,

Pet Adoptions
The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open
for adoptions Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more

The Cherokee County Humane Society holds several off-site pet adoptions
with animals from the animal shelter: Hwy 92 PetsMart, 1st and 3rd Saturday
and every Sunday; PetsMart on Barrett Parkway, 2nd and 4th Sundays; the
Animal Hospital of Towne Lake (Dr. Weaver), 1st and 3rd Saturday; and
PetCo on Barrett Parkway, 1st and 3rd Sundays. All adoptions are from
