From the

Towne Lake
Business Association

It's that time of year - school's out, vacations are now a reality, kids in camps and colleges or careers await graduating high school seniors. Wherever this summer takes you and your family, the Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) wishes everyone a happy, safe and fun summer.

As part of our commitment to the young people in our community, the TLBA recently awarded our annual Entrepreneurial Scholarships. Lauren Clark of Woodstock High School and Lauren Naples of Etowah High School each received $1,000 scholarships. Congratulations to both very deserving young ladies, and we wish them good luck with their continued education and success!

Summer is also a time for business owners to assess their mid-year goals and accomplishments. It's a time to reflect on the first half of the year and plan for the remainder. It's also a great time to get involved with other business owners and what better way to do this than to join the TLBA. While the kids may be out of school, businesses don't take breaks. The TLBA can provide a great avenue through which businesses can attract new customers and help develop solutions to the many challenges that face business owners every day.

Through our monthly Lunch 'N' Learn Workshops, both members and guests are exposed to many new ideas on topics ranging from marketing and advertising to taxes and insurance. "Business Health Insurance" was the topic of our May workshop. We want to thank Stephen Ott of Ott & Company for leading the workshop.

To learn more about the TLBA or to become a member, please visit www.tlba.org or come to one of our workshops on the third Tuesday of each month from 12:30 - 2 p.m.

As always, we thank you for supporting our local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

Until next month,

Wayne Kosbe, President

Jay Chalk, owner of PC Specialist

Jay Chalk started his computer business in August 2001. Jay is originally from the south Florida area. Having visited Atlanta on many occasions in the past, he decided to relocate his family in 1993. In the summer of 1995, Jay and his family moved to Woodstock.

Jay is sought after for his knowledge of computers and computer networks. He is A+ certified in computer and laser printer hardware repair. He also trains on the latest software packages and offers monthly maintenance contracts. His business centers on small companies and residential customers who need his expertise and experience. His work takes him all over Cherokee and Cobb counties, but he doesn't limit his business solely to these areas.

In addition to his professional work, Jay holds training classes at the Woodstock Senior Center for Seniors who want to learn and familiarize themselves with computers and the Internet. He has set up special discount training and repair rates to accommodate Seniors.

Jay plans to expand his business to the North Fulton area soon. In addition, he plans to hold informational meetings in the near future for the Towne Lake area. These meetings will allow individuals to learn more about computers, email and the Internet. If you have any type of computer problem, Jay can help you solve it.

Jay has been an active member of the Towne Lake Business Association since November, 2002.

PC Specialist, LLC is located in Towne Lake. Jay can be reached at (678) 360-6175 or pcspecialist2000@aol.com.
