  What's New

As we reported last month, Your Turn Kid's Consignment store, located in the Towne Lake Commons, has officially moved into its new, larger location a few doors down from the previous location. The store took over the space formerly occupied by International Golf Discount. In addition, Your Turn Kid's Consignment will be opening a second location in the Market at BridgeMill in the near future.

Discover Chiropractic and Rehabilitation plans to open for business by August 1. The office, located in the Towne Lake Square shopping center, will occupy the space formerly occupied by Haynes Pet Center. Discover Chiropractic also has a location in Kennesaw.

As of this writing, the Stonebridge Tavern was scheduled to hold their opening in late June. The restaurant will feature specialties such as crab cakes, prime aged steaks and seafood. They also plan to have a blue plate special for $9.99 which will be available anytime during the day, according to owner B. K. Foster. Stonebridge Tavern is located in the Eagle Pointe shopping center in the former location of Fresco's.

Dr. John Kirby, DDS, has relocated his practice from the Towne Lake Village Center to 1190 Buckhead Crossing, Suite E on Towne Lake Parkway, behind Chili's.

House and Garden Boutique, a new antique/home décor store is scheduled to open mid-July. They are located at 103 Bowles Drive (off Main Street), across from All American Tool and Party Rental in Woodstock. Owners Lynn and Jammie Paterson, plan to rent space to antique vendors.

Floral Designs by HC is now open for business, taking over the space formerly occupied by the Silver Lining in The Plaza at Towne Lake across from Kroger. Floral Designs by HC, a full-service florist, has been in operation for 15 years and was previously located on Bells Ferry Road.

We are sorry to let you know that the Stillwater Gallery on the corner of Towne Lake Parkway and Main Street in Olde Towne Woodstock is closing. If you are a Thomas Kinkade fan, you may be able to get a good deal on a picture as they are offering great closeout prices.

What's On Going

Wolf Camera, owned by Ritz Camera, is making great strides toward opening soon. The sign was recently hung and the store is preparing the shelves for the delivery of merchandise. They will be located in the space formerly occupied by Joe Muggs.

The sidewalks on Towne Lake Parkway were designed to extend from I-575 to Bells Ferry Road. The County is completing this project by renovating the bridge on Towne Lake Parkway over Noonday Creek to allow for the bridge to accommodate the sidewalk, connecting the sidewalks from Towne Lake Hills South Drive and Deer Run Parkway.

The Corps of Engineers has completed its stream impact study, and Cherokee County can now complete the right-of-way and easement plans for the widening of Eagle Drive. Eagle Drive, between Bells Ferry Road and Parkbrooke Drive (by Bruster's), will be widened and re-aligned, and will accommodate four traffic lanes, a 20 foot wide grass median and sidewalks.

A new stoplight is scheduled to be installed at Eagle Drive and Parkbrooke Drive and should be operational by early July.

Every Thursday is Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS) day at the Woodstock Restaurant located at 9425 Highway 92 in the Woodstock Commons shopping center next to Firestone. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy great food and family atmosphere while supporting the CCHS. Just mention you support the CCHS and the restaurant will donate 10% of your check to the CCHS.

Would you like to help reduce the number of animals at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter? Maybe Doggie U is for you. The Cherokee County Humane Society has a great program aimed at reducing the number of unwanted pets in Cherokee County by helping shelter dogs become more desirable for adoption. (See page 50 for details.)

The Crossings Shopping Center on Towne Lake Parkway has been pumping away water from the recent rains as they continue with the construction of the Publix, Washington Mutual, Planet Tan and Southeastern Dry Cleaning. Announcement of additional tenants is expected soon.

Good News!

The Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority (CCWSA) and the Woodstock Water System both reported recently that our community's water supply meets or exceeds established water quality standards. The sources of Cherokee County's water are the Chattahoochee River, the Etowah River and Lake Allatoona. For more information, call the CCWSA at (770) 479-1813 ext. 232 or the Woodstock Public Works Director at (770) 592-6038.

Towne Lake Diner
Peachtree Diner

by Kara Kiefer

Does this sound familiar? You want to go out to eat. That much you know, but where? Inevitably, you will end up at one of the two restaurants you always go to. You've entered the zone known as the Restaurant Rut. But, there is a cure! It's close, there's a great selection of diner-type food, and it serves Real Brewed Tea! It's the Peachtree Diner located on Highway 92 near Bells Ferry Road - it will satisfy your appetite for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The Peachtree Diner has been under the management of Archie Wilson since March, 2003. The Diner features good American-style food. The breakfast menu includes traditional favorites such as omelets, pancakes and waffles with some tasty sides such as cheese grits. There are breakfast specials, Monday - Friday. The lunch menu is varied serving salads, sandwiches, hamburgers and wraps. Dinner time will find you surrounded by classics such as meatloaf, steaks, pasta and seafood dishes, including an All You Can Eat Catfish Dinner on Friday nights. In addition, there are Chef Specials daily. According to Manager Karen Cunningham, the thing that sets Peachtree Diner apart from other eateries is true, home cooked food. As any diner afficionado will attest, the desserts are always one of the highlights, and the Peachtree Diner is no exception. The Diner has its own Pastry Chef, and there is always plenty to choose from.

Their motto is, "Good Food. Good People," and we found that to be true. The Diner has patio seating, perfect for breakfast dining. Be Brave. Get out of your Restaurant Rut. You won't be sorry.
