Atlanta 2-Day
Walk
The Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer
will be on October 25 and 26. The walk is a 25 - 35 mile fundraiser walk
through Atlanta. There will be an evening of festivities including a night
in a hotel and a performance by Kim Bracken. All proceeds go towards Atlanta
based cancer support, research, financial aid, and awareness/education

American Red Cross
Blood Drives
The American Red Cross is in need of blood
donations, all types, but especially "O." Donating is safe and takes about
an hour. Most healthy people who are at least 17 years old and weigh at
least 110 pounds are eligible to give. Blood drives will be held at the
First Baptist Church of Woodstock, August 4 from 2:30 - 7:30 p.m. and
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, August 17 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Baton and Dance Team
Class Registration
Registration for baton and dance team classes
begins on August 1. Classes are held at the Cherokee County Recreation
Center for ages 6 - 18 and will run September through May. For more information,

Children's Consignment Sale
The Hillside United Methodist Church Mission
Trippers will hold its Annual Consignment Sale benefiting mission trips
both locally and abroad. The sale takes place August 22 from 9 a.m. -
4 p.m., and August 23 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The sale will feature high
quality fall and winter children's clothes, toys, furniture and accessories.

Children's Miracle
Network Fundraiser
The World of Gymnastics, in conjunction with
USA Gymnastics, is holding a fundraiser benefiting the Children's Miracle
Network. Mrs. Smith's new FlipIt Cake has teamed with local gymnasts to
promote the Mrs. Smith's Flip-A-Thon. Participating gymnasts secure pledges
for the number of flips he/she can perform on National Gymnastics Day,
which is Saturday, August 2 at the World of Gymnastics. The day's activities
will include games, performances, inflatables, prize drawings and the
cartwheel-a-thon. The event will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please call

Consignment Sale

a "Kid-n-Stuff" Consignment Sale. The sale will be Friday, August 15 from

MUST Ministries Back
to School Program
Must Ministries is collecting school supplies
to be distributed the first week of August. Supplies will be distributed
to approximately 1,200 students in need in the Cherokee County School
District. Items such as pencils, pens, notebook paper, binders, scissors
and backpacks are needed. New clothing items are also needed, especially
shoes, socks, underwear and jeans. Supplies can be dropped off at MUST,

Papas Pantry
Papa's Pantry is a year-round local food
ministry that reaches out to families who experience an unexpected time
of need. Special needs currently are pasta sauce, breakfast cereal, canned
fruit, canned tuna, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Monetary donations are
also encouraged to purchase perishable items. A collection barrel is available
at The TowneLaker office, 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Suite 340. To

Pet Adoptions and
CCHS News
The Cherokee County Humane Society
(CCHS) has two local locations for newspaper recycling. Proceeds benefit
the county's homeless animals. The bins are located at the Woodstock Commons
Shopping Center on Highway 92 (Goodwill is the anchor store), and PetsMart
on Highway 92. The CCHS will hold its Annual Yard Sale on October 3 -
5. Volunteers who own a truck, SUV, station wagon or large car are needed
now to help pick up donations and deliver them to the storage facilities.

County Animal Shelter is open for adoptions Monday - Saturday, 10
a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The CCHS has off-site adoptions as well with animals
from the Shelter. They will be held from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday,
August 2, 9 and 23 at the PetsMart on Highway 92 and on Sunday, August
10 and August 24 at the PetsMart on Barrett Parkway. Adoptions are also
held at Petco on Barrett Parkway on August 3, 16 and 17.
Towne Lake Arts Center Fundraiser
The Towne Lake Arts Center will host a fundraiser
benefiting the Center on August 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be
food, games, entertainment, raffles, a rummage sale, bake sale and a carwash.
