On Wednesday, August 13, the Silver Roamers
will travel to the
Smith House in Dahlonega for a family
style lunch. After lunch, the group will visit some of the city's unique
shops. The cost is $18 for members and $20 for non-members and includes
transportation and lunch. Departure from the Recreation Center will be
at 9:30 a.m. and from the Canton Senior Center at 10 a.m.
The Silver Roamers are planning to tour Westville
Village on Tuesday, August 26. This is a living history museum, depicting
an 1850 West Georgia village with demonstrators presenting 1850s' crafts,
quilting, potting, blacksmiths, and open-hearth cooking. The group will
have lunch before they begin the tour. The cost is $22 for members and
$25 for non-members and includes lunch, transportation and admission into
the village. The group will leave the Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and
the Canton Senior Center at 8:30 a.m.
Registration deadline for Silver Roamers
planning to attend the GRPA Octoberfest 2003 is August 25. This
tour includes Barnsley Gardens, Etowah Indian Mounds, Roselawn, dinner
theater at 1902 Stock Exchange and more. The group will spend three days
and two nights in the North Georgia Foothills. The cost for a single is
$325 for members and $335 for non-members. The cost for a double is $255
for members and $265 for non-members, which includes all meals and accommodations
at the Red Top Mountain Lodge.
Tumbling Classes
Monday, August 11 will begin the new tumbling
classes at the Recreation Center. Tumble 2, 3 and 4 will learn a variety
of motor skills development incorporating music, movement and tumble in
a fun environment. Other tumbling classes available are the Kinder Kids,
Beginning Girls I, Beginning Boys I and Tumble for Cheer. The days and
times vary so please call the Recreation Center for additional information.
