Chief Magistrate
Judge Robertson Helps Revolutionize Court Processes
Cherokee Chief Magistrate Judge Charles Robertson's
business and technology background is making his website www.cccourt.com
a national model for government efficiency and innovation. It is revolutionizing
the way courts interact with the public and process cases in courts of
lesser jurisdiction. Two years ago, Judge Robertson began an experiment
in digital government in the Cherokee County Magistrate Court, providing
thousands of citizens the capability to inquire on line for relevant information
and complete electronic filings. In addition, the website provides county-specific
information and answers to just about every question someone might have
about the Magistrate Court and proceedings as a Plaintiff or Defendant.
Cherokee County is currently analyzing the expansion of this system to
other courts.

Three Towne Lake
Residents Compete
in Acworth Beach Triathlon
After six months of grueling training, three
Towne Lake residents recently competed in the Acworth Beach Triathlon.
Left to right: Towne Lake residents Lisa Price and Sammy Bray from
Summerchase and Sue Gagain from The Fairways recently participated in
the Acworth Beach Triathlon.
Lisa Price and Sammy Bray, who live in Summerchase
along with Sue Gagain who resides in The Fairways participated in this
endurance test. Each competitor was required to swim one mile, bike for
twenty-six miles and then run for six miles. The three joined more than
four hundred men and women competing during this event which included
teens, seniors, middle agers and a young blind man who completed the required
course while tethered to a friend. Congratulations!
Community Emergency
Response Team's First Class is Ready to Help
Cherokee County is now one of only seven
counties in Georgia that has developed Community Emergency Response Teams
(CERT) to help keep our community safe. Twenty-six volunteers
from within Cherokee County received 20 hours of training to be CERT certified.
Developed through President Bush's Citizen Corps initiative, these team
members will provide aid to their neighbors and communities when conventional
resources become overwhelmed during a disaster. For more information,
visit cherokeega-ema.org or e-mail Rob Kennedy at rkennedy@cherokeega.com.

Winners of the
4th Annual Les Marmitons Bar-B-Que Competition (left to right): George
Osborne, David Osborne, Jean-Pierre Jobin, Larry Wartes, David Greene
and Nicholas DiPiazza
The 4th annual Les Marmitons Bar-B-Que Competition
was held recently on the shores of Lake Allatoona. Les Marmitons (which
is French for "Kitchen Boys") is an international club, with eight chapters
in North America, two of which are in Atlanta. The club is composed of
men who share a common interest in fine food, wine and the culinary arts,
and want to learn more and improve their culinary skills. Excluding the
summer months, the club meets once a month at The Hearth at Eagle Watch
to work with an invited chef and prepare a special multi-course meal from
his or her restaurant.
Five teams competed in this year's event
named "Iron Chef meets Kitchen Boys," which was adapted from the program
on the Food Channel. Each team was given a box with the same exact meats
the morning of the event. Each box contained pork roasts, thick pork chops,
sausage and baby back ribs. The teams had an opportunity to go to a common
table and pick various fresh spices, fruits and vegetables to highlight
the meats and prepare a plate to be judged. Previous winners Rick Lacher
and Mike Morel had the difficult but enjoyable task of judging the five
entries, with the assistance of Gina Carr and Don Kyle of The TowneLaker
and Danny Lee from China Bay II. Each entry was judged
on the basis of: presentation, flavor, creativity with the meat items
and creative use of the common table items. Thanks are also extended by
Les Marmitons to the helpful folks at Publix who were on hand to answer
questions and offer help and advice.
After the event two more competitions took
place. The first was a "Favorite Summer Drink" and the second was the
best "Shrimp on the Bar-B." And just to make sure no one went home hungry,
chicken wings were available for everyone. To learn more about Les Marmitons,
visit their web site at www.lesmarmitons.org. There is a link to each
club, with the Atlanta chapter at the top of the list located on the left
side of the main page.
