Atlanta 2-Day Walk

The Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer will be on October 25 and 26. The Walk is a 25 - 35 mile fundraiser walk through Atlanta. There will be an evening of festivities including a night in a hotel and a performance by Kim Bracken. All proceeds go towards Atlanta based cancer support, research, financial aid, and awareness/education programs. Bicycle Rodeo

The Woodstock City Police will sponsor the 8th Annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, September 27 beginning at 8 a.m. The Rodeo will take place in the Lowes Parking lot on Highway 92. Events will include mounting and steering, circles and funnel "T" figure 8, braking and slalom. There will also be a "perfection on wheels" demonstration at 10 a.m. The rodeo is free and open to children ages 6 - 14. For more information, please call (770) 926-8852.

Etowah Eagles Golf Tournament

The Etowah High School Touchdown Club is hosting its Annual Golf Tournament benefiting the Eagles football team. The tournament will be Friday, October 3 at the Towne Lake Hills Golf Course. There will be hole-in-one contests to win a car and $10,000, prizes and raffles. The cost is $375 per foursome or $100 per individual player if paid by September 15. Fees include golf cart and lunch. HOPE Center Fundraiser

The HOPE Center, a non-profit center that assists women facing an untimely pregnancy, will hold its annual fundraising banquet on September 8 from 7 - 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Woodstock's fellowship hall. Lake Allatoona Cleanup

The Annual Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup will be on Saturday, September 13 beginning at 9 a.m. The cleanup will involve the entire shoreline of Allatoona Lake. Individuals and groups are invited to participate and will be treated to a cookout and entertainment following the cleanup at Allatoona Landing Marina. Papa's Pantry

Papa's Pantry celebrated their 5th year in August. This year-round local food ministry reaches out to families who experience an unexpected time of need. During the summer, Papa's Pantry shelves start to become depleted and donations of canned goods, pasta sauce, breakfast cereal, canned fruit, tuna, toothpaste and toothbrushes are appreciated. Monetary donations are also encouraged to purchase perishable items. A collection barrel is available at The TowneLaker office, 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Suite 340. Pet Adoptions and
CCHS News

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open for pet adoptions Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Pet adoptions are also held every Sunday in September at PetsMart on Highway 92 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, please call Amy at (770) 345-7270 ext. 2.

The Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS) also hosts pet adoptions on weekends at locations in Woodstock and Kennesaw. All the animals are from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. All adoptions are from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Adoptions will be held at PetsMart on Highway 92 in Woodstock on Saturday, September 6, 13 and 27. Adoptions will be held at Petco on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw on Sunday, September 7, Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21. Adoptions will be held at PetsMart on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw on Sunday, September 14 and September 28. For cat lovers, adoptions are held every Saturday at PetsMart on Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Project CatSnip, a low-cost mobile spay/neuter clinic for cats and dogs under 25 pounds, will be held on Tuesday, September 2 at the Petco on Barrett Parkway and at the Elegant Flea on Highway 92 and Bells Ferry Road. An appointment is necessary, so please call (770) 448-6806 to schedule.

Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival

The Cherokee County Service League will hold its Annual Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival September 27 and 28, rain or shine. The festival will be at Boling Park from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The festival includes craftsmen, children's area, entertainment and food. The cost of admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. All proceeds are used to assist underprivileged children in Cherokee County.
