Emily Mueller (left) and Kimberly Farlow both recently received the Silver Award, the Girl Scout's highest honor given to Cadettes.

Woodstock Girl Scouts Kimberly Farlow and Emily Mueller recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. This award is the highest honor a Cadette Girl Scout can achieve and the second highest award in Girl Scouting. Each girl achieved their award after completing two years of leadership, career and badge preparation work and a Silver Award community service project.

For her Silver Award project, Emily designed a room reservation system for Timothy Lutheran Church. As a result, the church now has an organized method of reserving church rooms. The new system eliminates double-booking of rooms and equipment. Her project included making presentations to the Church Board.

Kimberly's project consisted of collecting more than 1,700 children's books and videos for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She accomplished this by distributing letters describing her project along with grocery bags to members of the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church after Sunday services. Church members returned the bags the following Sunday, filled with children's books and videos. Kimberly then presented the donations to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Kimberly is a sophomore at Etowah High School and the daughter of Nancy and Ted Farlow. Emily is a freshman at Etowah and the daughter of Joan and Gerald Mueller. They are both members of Troop 1627 led by Joan Mueller and Lauri Wischner.
