American Red Cross Blood Drives

The American Red Cross is in need of blood donations, all types, but especially "O." Donating is safe and takes about an hour. Most healthy people who are at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to give. Blood drives will be held at the following locations:

Arnold Mill Elementary School
Thursday, November 13, 2 - 6:45 p.m.
Hillside United Methodist Church
Tuesday, November 18, 2:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Bittersweet Fair at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will host a Bittersweet Fair on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The fair will include arts and crafts and a special "Kids Room" where children can purchase inexpensive items for their family as Christmas gifts. Light lunch items and baked goods will also be available. Businesses who wish to contribute items for the raffle can contact the church office at (770) 924-7286.

Cancer Prevention Seminar

A free seminar on cancer prevention will be held on Sunday, November 2 at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library in Canton. Sponsored by Healing Cove, the seminar will begin at 3 p.m. in the conference room. For information, please call (678) 445-0357 or mamalaura@earthlink.net.

Etowah Cheerleaders
Collecting Supplies

The eighth grade Etowah Eagles Cheerleaders are collecting toiletries and white athletic socks for a homeless outreach. There will be collection boxes at each home game, and the girls will be putting together "hygiene kits" at the end of the season for distribution in downtown Atlanta. Gobble Jog Benefits
MUST Ministries

The first Annual Gobble Jog will be held on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27 at Glover Park on the Marietta Square. The cost is $15 before November 21 and $20 after that date. If you want to support MUST Ministries but are unable to attend, you may sign up as a phantom cook ($20) and a T-shirt will be mailed to you. Proceeds from the race will go toward feeding the hungry. Hillside UMC 9th Annual
Holiday Craft Show

The 9th Annual Holiday Craft Show at Hillside United Methodist Church will be held on November 7 - 8 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Celebration Hall. This is one of the largest indoor craft shows in Cherokee County. The church is located at 4474 Towne Lake Parkway. For more information, please call (770) 924-4777.

Pet Adoptions

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is open for pet adoptions Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Pet adoptions are also held every Sunday in November at PetsMart on Highway 92 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, please call Amy at (770) 345-7270 ext. 2.

The Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS) also hosts pet adoptions on weekends at locations in Woodstock and Kennesaw. All the animals are from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. CCHS pet adoptions will be held on Saturday, November 1, 8 and 22, and on Sunday, November 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the PetsMart on Highway 92, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Adoptions will be held at Petco on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw on November 15 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Pet adoptions will also be held at the PetsMart on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw on Sunday November 9 and 23 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Saturday, November 1, the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake on Eagle Drive will host their pet adoption from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Project CatSnip will have the low-cost mobile unit available for spay/neutering on all cats and dogs under 25 pounds on November 4 and November 17. An appointment is necessary so please call (770) 448-6806 to schedule. There also is a constant need for volunteers to assist with foster care. 7th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes

The Junior Service League of Woodstock will hold their annual Holiday Tour of Homes on November 15 and 16. The tickets for the tour are $12. The tour includes five beautiful homes in the Towne Lake and BridgeMill communities. The proceeds from the tour will be donated to local projects that support the interests of children and the less fortunate in Cherokee County. Last year, the tour raised more than $40,000. Tanglewood Farms

Santa will be at Tanglewood Farms located at 171 Tanglewood Drive in Canton November 29 from 1 - 5 p.m. Step back in time to an adorable Wild West Town decked out for the holidays. Volunteers Needed for
The Festival of Trees

This year's theme for The Festival of Trees will be "The Wonders of Toy Land." Volunteers are needed to create and build giant toys, candy canes, icebergs, penguins, and props that convey the North Pole and Santa's Workshop. Volunteers are needed for pre-event work now through November 22. Setup volunteers are needed from November 29 - December 5, and during the event from December 6 - December 14.
