From the
Towne Lake Business
Association
November brings my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving
- a time to give thanks for all we have and to count our blessings. Be
optimistic and positive; it may become contagious.
What a great time we had at our 3rd Annual
Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) Golf Tournament at the Eagle Watch
Golf Club! Our day was a huge success from the perfect weather, fabulous
sponsors, great turn-out of players and the many volunteers. We thank
everyone who participated in any way this year. Over $3,500 was raised,
$2,000 of which will go directly to the TLBA Entrepreneurial Scholarship
Fund. In addition to a great day of golf, our tournament was complemented
with fantastic prizes for the winning teams, a live auction of original
sports memorabilia, a raffle and an Italian buffet dinner. You might want
to mark your calendar for next year's tournament (in September 2004) as
our event is getting bigger and better each year.
Here is a question for local businesses who
are not yet members of the TLBA. What are you waiting for? If there is
a better value for $50 per year than this, please let me know. One of
the benefits of membership is being featured as a Member Spotlight in
The TowneLaker, showcasing your business at no additional cost to you!
That's right, nothing, notta, zip! And that's just part of the deal. We
focus on helping businesses improve and grow through our monthly Lunch
'N' Learn Workshops, as well as networking through our talented member
base. So come join us for lunch - you'll be glad you did.
As always, we thank you for supporting our
local businesses, and thus, our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping
Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."

Joseph Segraves
Joseph Segraves, attorney at law, has been
a member of the Georgia Bar Association and in private practice for the
better part of 30 years. For a majority of that time, Joe has been a one-man
law firm. He practices general law and represents privately held and small
businesses. He believes in getting to know his clients and understanding
their business needs, while providing a wide-range of legal services for
them. He also represents individuals who want an attorney who will personally
handle their case. He recognizes that an individual's legal need is one
of utmost importance to that individual, and Joe treats it as such.
Joe graduated from the University of Georgia
and entered Emory Law School basically as a way to "stay in school and
continue to have fun and avoid the draft." Although it wasn't immediately
apparent to Joe what type of law he wanted to specialize in (remember
his reason for going to law school in the first place), he soon found
his niche in general law and has been satisfied with his decision. In
1998, Joe went back to school at Kennesaw State University and received
his Master of Business Administration.
In addition to being a member of the Towne
Lake Business Association, Joe is a Board member and past President of
Kennesaw State University Business School Alumni Association. His hobbies
include ALTA tennis (he's an A-6 level player) and golf, and he enjoys
building things with his hands. He has two sons, William and David and
one grandson. He is currently engaged to a "wonderful woman" by the name
of Jane.
Joe had this to say about practicing law,
"Practicing law is often said to be a privilege that is earned by hard
work. It has been personally satisfying when you can help good people
and obtain good results from your work." Joe can be reached by phone at
(770) 924-7508 or by email at jsegraves@sprynet.com.
