neutered or not. SPAY DAY USA is February 24, 2004. Make that a deadline for you to get your pet fixed. (See below for an invitation to my special SPAY DAY USA event below!)

- Make a good clear photo of your pet and keep it in a safe place. This will come in handy if you need to make a flyer to distribute to local vets and shelters.

Till next time! I am, your furry friend, Scooter.

Elect Me

Mayor
of the World!

Dear Friends,

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce my candidacy for Mayor of the World. Although I've been told that no such position exists, I am not one to be deterred by details!

The theme of my candidacy is "There's No Place Like Home*." In other words, I believe that every four legged friend should have a permanent, loving home. Over the next few months, I will be sharing with you some of my ideas for how I will work to make the world a better place through my "There's No Place Like Home" programs.

Tops on my list is something very near and dear to my heart -helping my buddies get back home when they get lost. My solution is simple. We need to get some better communication going on around here. I propose the following:

- Contact your HOA board members and tell them that you want special permission for LOST PET signs. These signs are very important and should not be ripped down according to the normal "temporary sign rules!" Give me a break!! Your pet is an important family member for goodness sake!

- Get your pet an ID tag! I don't care if they "never go outside." Accidents happen and they happen to even the best pet parents! They have a great little machine at the front of PetsMart that makes the cutest tags for mere pennies. There is no excuse! Do it today!

- Get your pet microchipped. For less than $60, you can have an AVID microchip inserted into your furry friend. It is painless and can't be lost like a collar or tag. If your pet gets lost, the person that finds him or her can take your pet to a local vet or shelter and it will help you get your pet back home.

- Get your pet fixed. Fixed pets are less likely to wander away looking for love in all the wrong places. One time I followed this cute little girl home and when my mom finally found me a few days later, she took me straight to the vet! I've personally never noticed the difference and I know that I am still quite the ladies man,
