What's New
In March, Around Canton magazine

Animal Hospital of Towne Lake to her brand new facility on Parkbrooke
Circle. The Butcher's Block, a new butcher shop owned and operated
by Kelly and Mike Block will be opening a 5,000 sq. ft. facility in the
space vacated by the Animal Hospital and the adjacent vacant space. The
Butcher's Block will feature basic slice to order choice cut meats, small
gift selections, a collection of organic cereal and produce. They also
will have "kid friendly foods," no hormone foods, free range chicken,
micro brew beer and wine, and fresh seafood imported daily from the coasts.
The shop is scheduled to open in late January or early February.

doors in early 2004 in the Towne Lake Center (new Publix center on Towne

focusing on teen and young adult clothing, is opening soon in the Shops

Kudos
Amy and Eric Vaillancourt wish to
thank the Towne Lake area community for their great support and help while
their dog, Kernel, was missing. Kernel is now home safe and sound. A special
thanks goes to friends at Towne Lake Fitness and South Cherokee
Veterinary Hospital for bringing him home. (For more great animal
stories, please see pages 48, 52 & 56.)
Beetles BBQ
Where Swine
is Divine
by Kara Kiefer
What is minutes from
Towne Lake, serves made-from-scratch BBQ and Brunswick Stew and is home
to the patent-pending Car B-Q? Beetles BBQ, where swine is divine.
Beetles is set to celebrate
its second anniversary this month which makes owner Bill Beadle proud.
"I realize we are on the other side of the Berlin Wall (I-575); I'm glad
we're still here!"
Beetles specializes
in pork BBQ and Brunswick Stew, all homemade using Bill's recipes. There
are four different sauces to dab or smother your BBQ plus a "fire sauce"
which kicks it up a notch or two depending upon your mood. Other menu
items include catfish, salads, ribs and chicken wings. Daily lunch specials
feature some of his best menu items, like pulled pork and beef brisket
sandwiches. The specials are a great way to sample the menu, not to mention
very reasonably priced, $4.95 - $5.95.
Beetles is also open for breakfast and serves
country-style entrees and, in Bill's words, "huge cathead" biscuits.
And for your catering needs? That's where
the patent-pending Beetles Car B-Q comes in handy. The Car B-Q is a 1962
VW truck retrofitted with a cooker on top. You may also recognize the
original Beetles VW bug cooker - it's all black with a smoke stack on
the roof, and all the cooking is done in the gutted VW Bug. Beetles can
cater functions up to 1,000 people, and Bill feels his catering prices
can't be beat.
Whether you're hungry for BBQ, Brunswick
Stew or ribs, cross the "Berlin Wall" to Beetles BBQ - it's well worth
it!
