American Red
Cross Blood Drives
The American
Red Cross desperately needs blood donations of all types, especially "O."
Donating is safe and takes about an hour. Most healthy people who are
at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds can give. Blood drives
will be held at the following locations:

Bruster's
Warm Coat Program
Bruster's Real Ice Cream and a nonprofit
charitable organization, Operation Warm, have joined forces to help disadvantaged
children. Through the "Cool Cone and a Warm Coat" program, customers can
purchase $10 donation cards that provide new, quality coats to needy children
in our community. Furthermore, the recipient of the card can redeem it
for a free ice cream waffle cone at participating Bruster's. The cards
will be distributed through March. The local Bruster's is located at 2905
Eagle Drive.
CERT Class Registration
Registrations are currently being accepted
for the next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). When emergencies
occur, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide
immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at
a disaster site. The classes start Monday, January 5 at the Cherokee County
Public Safety Facility on Univeter Road in Canton. For more information,

Cut-A-Thon
Jyl Craven Hair Colour Studio in conjunction
with the BridgeMill - Sixes Service League will hold a "Cut-A-Thon" with
all proceeds benefitting the Cherokee County Emergency Children's Shelter.
Hair cuts will be offered at the special rate of $15 for men and $25 for
women. The Cut-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, February 15 from 11 a.m.

Migraine Seminar
North Georgia Spinal Associates will present
a seminar on migraines. They invite the public to find out what medical
research is saying about the cause and cure. The seminar will be held
on Saturday, January 17 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Rose Creek Library.
The seminar is limited to the first 25 people to respond. To reserve a

Pet Adoptions
The Cherokee County Animal Shelter
is open for pet adoptions Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m, and
all adoptions must begin by no later than 5 p.m.
Pet adoptions also will be held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday in January at
PetsMart on Highway 92 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information, please

The Cherokee County Humane Society (CCHS)
also hosts pet adoptions on weekends at locations in Woodstock and Kennesaw.
All the animals are from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. CCHS pet
adoptions will be held at the following locations: Saturday, January 3,
10, and 28 and on Sunday, January 4, 18 and at the PetsMart on Highway
92, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; PETCO on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw on January
24 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; and PetsMart on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw
on Sunday January 11 and 25 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Project CatSnip will
have its low-cost mobile unit available for spaying/neutering of cats
and dogs under 25 pounds on January 6 at PETCO and January 22 at the Elegant
Flea Market on Bells Ferry Road. An appointment is necessary, so please

War Eagles Dance
The 12U War Eagles baseball team will host
a winter dance on Friday, January 30 from 7 - 10 p.m. at the CRPA Recreation
Center. There will be a DJ, karaoke and refreshments. The dance is for
grades 4 through 7 and admission is $5. Proceeds will go toward the War
Eagles' participation in a national tournament in New York. For more information,
