From the
Towne Lake Business
Association
As we settle into 2004, many of us are looking
forward to a prosperous and rewarding year. We in the Towne Lake area
have much to look forward to with the rebounding economy and the impact
it should have on all of us.
As individuals, we all make New Year's resolutions
that we strive to achieve. As business owners, these resolutions are made
in the form of annual budgets and strategic plans. We must review our
past performance and resolve to improve our operations and the level of
service or products we offer to our customers. Without a commitment to
meet (and hopefully exceed) our goals and plans, we will most likely regret
our results at the end of the year.
With this goal in mind, the Towne Lake Business
Association will do our part in helping businesses in the Towne Lake area
succeed. The Towne Lake Business Association (TLBA) was established
specifically to help our local businesses become better, particularly
for you, the consumers. We hold monthly Lunch 'N' Learn Workshops to discuss
how we can improve customer service and work within our community to do
the things necessary to become not only better businesses, but better
people within our community.
Some of the plans we have for the new year
include hosting quarterly After Hour Receptions - a forum for business
owners and area residents to get to know each other better, hosting our
Annual TLBA Golf Tournament for the benefit of our Entrepreneurial
Scholarships awarded to local graduating high school seniors, and assisting
member businesses to resolve the variety of challenges that arise during
the course of the year. And of course, we will highlight one of our members
as the Member Spotlight in The TowneLaker each month.
The topic of our January workshop was "The
Art and Science of Strategic Planning . . . What You Don't Know That You
Don't Know Can Kill Your Business." We want to thank Felicia McAleer
of The McAleer Group for leading the workshop.
As always, we thank you for supporting our
local businesses, and thus our Towne Lake area community, and for "Keeping
Towne Lake Dollars in Cherokee."
