Doggie
University
Information Session
A
Doggie University information session is scheduled for April 22, at 7
p.m. at CENTURY 21 Advantage, located in the Colonnade at Towne Lake next
to Wendy's. This information session will explain in depth how Doggie
U's special program is dedicated to helping dogs at the Cherokee County.
This program is completely volunteer based. Animal Shelter become more
"adoptable." Volunteers will come to the Shelter each Saturday from 10
a.m. to 12 noon to work with the dogs. Some of the "work" will include
walking the dogs and teaching them to not pull on a leash. No experience
in dog training is required. Reservations for the information session

Indian
Festival and Pow Wow
The
14th Annual Cherokee County Indian Festival and Mother's Day Pow Wow will
be held May 7 - 9 at Boling Park in Canton. The event is the South's premier
Native American showcase with dancers, drummers, singers and educators
from numerous tribes across the country. Admission is $8 for adults and
$5 for children 12 and under. Children 3 and under are free. Proceeds
will benefit several non-profit organizations for the improvement of the
welfare of Native American communities.
New
Horizon's Band
Recruiting Musicians
Dick
Wallsinger is forming a New Horizon's Band for Cherokee County with Bob
Martin of Ellijay acting as Band Director. The New Horizon's band program,
now in its twelfth year, applies typically to Seniors over the age of
50 who wish to pick up their musical instrument again and enjoy the band
experience. Rehearsals will be held at the Canton Senior Center on Univeter

Pantry Breakfast
Papa's
Pantry will host a fundraising breakfast on Tuesday, May 11 at Featherstone's
at Towne Lake Hills. Music will be provided by Maria M and Horsefeathers
Boutique will present a fashion show. All proceeds will benefit Papa's
Pantry and tickets can be purchased at Merle Norman's, Horsefeathers Boutique,
Bruster's Real Ice, Sun & Snow Tanning Salon. For more information,

Scholarship
Deadline
The
Towne Lake Business Association awards two $1,000 scholarships annually
to a graduating college or technical bound senior at Etowah and Woodstock
High Schools. The TLBA Entrepreneurial Scholarships will be awarded based
on applications completed through the counselors at these schools. For

Tennis
Charity Invitational
The
Towne Lake Hills Tennis Club will be sponsoring a charity event to benefit
the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on May 7 - 9. On Friday,
May 7 there will be a free Junior clinic and an afternoon cookout. That

there will be a party with a live and silent auction and tennis demonstrations

The
HOPE Center
The
Helpful Options and Pregnancy Education (HOPE) Center is a non-profit
organization designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
of women who may be facing an untimely or unplanned pregnancy. The Center
offers a variety of services, including free pregnancy tests, educational
materials, mentoring and long-term support, community referrals and more.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available, ranging from a few
hours a week to monthly ongoing needs. For more information on the HOPE

Spring
football registration for seventh and eighth grade boys will be held on
Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Registration will be held at
the Woodstock High School field house and the cost is $75. A copy of your
child's birth certificate will be needed. Practices will be held Monday
through Friday beginning April 26 through May 14 from 6 - 8 p.m. For more

Woodstock Kiwanis Club
The
Woodstock Kiwanis Club is extending an open invitation to attend its weekly
meetings held each Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the 1904 House. Anyone who
is interested in and enjoys community service is encouraged to attend.
The Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Fine Arts and Master Crafters
Fair on May 15 - 16 at the Woodstock City Park. The 2nd Annual Woodstock
Kiwanis Club Fun Run will be held on Saturday, May 15. The 5K run/walk
will begin at 8 a.m. at the Woodstock South Annex Complex on Highway 5.
Proceeds will benefit children's programs in the community, including

Baseball and T-Ball
The
Cherokee Outdoor YMCA is accepting registrations for summer baseball and
T-Ball through April 16. All practices and games will be held at the YMCA,
located at 201 East Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock. Team T-shirts, baseball
caps and trophies are provided. All registrants must be members of the

Spring Break Camp
The
Cherokee Outdoor YMCA Spring Break Camp will be held on Monday, April
5 through Friday, April 9. The registration deadline is Friday, April
2 at 5 p.m. The camp will include arts and crafts, character development
activities, nature activities and more. The cost is $27 per day or $110
for the week. The camp is for ages 5 through 12. For more information
