In Memory of Scooter. . .

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together ...

Scooter Lives On
Through His Passions

Scruffy Sez: Dear Friends, I am deeply saddened to report that our pal and candidate for Mayor of the World, Scooter Carr-Kyle recently lost his battle with cancer. Scooter had been a member of Don Kyle and Gina Carr-Kyle's family for almost thirteen years and his loss is deeply felt. As the campaign manager for his mayoral bid, I want to assure you that Scooter's legacy will live on. His fight for homeless animals will continue through those who knew and loved him.

One of his most recent endeavors was hosting the First Annual Fur Ball (see page 50 for pictures of some who attended). While he was unable to fulfill his hosting duty, I am happy to report the community did support and participate in this fun-filled and entertaining evening. The Fur Ball benefited the Cherokee County Humane Society's spay and neuter programs. Scooter realized that these programs benefit homeless animals by reducing the number of unwanted animals.

When Scooter fell ill, he was also working on the Annual Tour For Life. The Tour is a

national cross-country adoption event and will be making a stop in Cherokee County at the Little River United Methodist Church, 12455 Hwy 92, in Woodstock across from the new Wal-Mart, near Trickum Road, on April 13, from 1 - 7 p.m. The mobile adoption units will assist the Cherokee County Animal Shelter in transporting adoptable animals to a centralized location with the hopes of finding new families. Scooter may be gone, but his work is not yet over. By supporting these upcoming events, his legacy will live on.
